SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Disney Tsum Tsum Festival’ Coming West, ‘Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden’ and ‘Forager’ Release Today, Huge NISA Games Sale, and More

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for July 30th, 2019. Today, I am taking a half-day off to enjoy my birthday. As prophesied, that means you’re getting a slightly smaller article than you may have on any other day of the year. On top of that, there’s a Smash video happening today that will reveal the release date of the next DLC character, but at the time of writing it has not occurred yet so whatever news happens there will have to be in tomorrow’s write-up. Nevertheless, the essentials are here. A couple of news items, summaries of today’s new releases, and of course, tasty sales info. Do not eat the sales info. It was a turn of phrase. Let’s see what’s inside the box!

‘Disney Tsum Tsum Festival’ Launches in the West on November 8th

Ah, Disney Tsum Tsum. One of those games that just quietly makes mountains of cash on mobile because all the people you think don’t play games are secretly playing it for hours every day, Disney Tsum Tsum was announced to be making its way to the Switch in Japan a while back. Today, we got an English trailer, announcement, and release date all in one go. The game will arrive on November 8th in North America and Europe, a little under a month after its October 10th release in Japan. In addition to the main puzzle game the brand is known for, Tsum Tsum Festival also packs in a bunch of fun mini-games you can enjoy with other players. The game will be available both digitally and physically, by the sounds of it.

‘Disgaea 4 Complete+’ Gets New Trailer Introducing Valvatorez

If you’re looking forward to the Switch release of Disgaea 4 Complete+ on October 29th, you’ll probably be interested in checking out the latest trailer for the game from NISA. It’s a cheeky introduction to the game’s protagonist, Valvatorez, and I promise by the end of it you’ll know what he stands for. I’d imagine plenty of people have already played the original release of this game, so nothing here will be all that surprising, but if you’re new to it, you’ll at least learn some of the basic elements of the story you’ll be playing through come Hallowe’en.

New Releases

Forager ($19.99)

SwitchArcade Highlight!

This game is fairly well-known so I’m not sure whether or not people need a description of it, but here goes. Forager is a relatively casual game with elements of Zelda, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and the idle clicker genre included in the mix. It is a complete and utter grind, and yet it is somehow a really good time anyway. I have to stress that the challenge level here is low, so it’s more of a game that you load up to chill out a bit. Your character has to survive on a desert island, and suffice it to say the little fluff not only pulls that off but thrives magnificently in the long run. There’s always new stuff opening up that add surprising and interesting things to the game, keeping the pace nice and brisk all the way up until the end.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden – Deluxe Edition ($44.99)

SwitchArcade Highlight!

Haaa. Well, this is sometimes how it goes. Mutant Year Zero is a really great game. It’s a turn-based strategy adventure, where you skulk around maps foraging for scrap and stopping to fight some very XCOM-like battles along the way. Your team is largely made up of mutant animals, like some gritty post-apocalyptic TMNT gone wrong. This Switch version includes the Seed of Evil expansion DLC, which adds several hours of gameplay and a mutant moose to the game. A mutant moose. And you know, it runs on the Switch. It really does. But this is one of those games that really has to cut the resolution to run, especially if you’re playing undocked. It’s not unplayable, but yeesh does it look rough. I’ll be doing a full review of this one in a few days with a bit more detail for you all.

Sales

One of those rare days where the inbox and outbox are almost perfectly balanced in terms of numbers. Thanos Liked this post. The obvious attention-grabber for new sales is the NISA sale, which sees some titles like Ys VIII and Disgaea 5 Complete hitting what I believe are their lowest prices yet. The extremely cool roguelike Tangledeep is on sale for the first time post-launch, and Darkest Dungeon has a nice discount as well. As far as outgoing sales go, Iconoclasts is probably the pick of the litter when considering quality and frequency of sales, but even that will probably be back on sale within a couple of months. Feel free to spend frivolously on that NISA sale, doods!

That’s it for today’s rather brief round-up. We’ll be back in full force tomorrow, with whatever news comes, summaries of some new releases, sales information, and perhaps a review if I’m feeling spry. And since I have the chance to make a guess about something that will already be revealed by the time you read this: Hero is dropping this week in Smash. If I’m wrong, it will simply be the latest in a long line, friends! Have a good one, and thanks as always for reading!
