Upcoming Tactical RPG ‘War Of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius’ From Square Enix Gets an Extended Gameplay Showcase

TouchArcade Rating:

After originally announcing it for Japan and then finally confirming a global release at E3 2019, Square Enix has a new gameplay video for the upcoming War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. If you’ve not kept up with this game, it is a tactical RPG spinoff in the same universe as Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (Free). Watch the English trailer for it below:

The gameplay trailer that Square Enix released over the weekend is from their Japanese YouTube channel for the game. I expect promotion for the West to begin once they have a confirmed release day or once the Japanese version releases if it isn’t a simultaneous release. If you’ve been craving something like Final Fantasy Tactics and have already played War of the Lions, this might be the game for you even though it will be free to play. Watch the new overview gameplay trailer for it below that shows off some nice skill animations in addition to grid based gameplay:

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will release on iOS and Android devices globally this year. Check out the official English website for it here. The gameplay showcased in the newest video above looks pretty great and I enjoy playing grid based tactical games on iOS. What do you think so far?

Super excited about this one! Squeenix’s Final Fantasy f2ps have been quite solid offering a ton of game for next to nothing. Brave Exvius and Opera Omnia are IMO the f2p highpoints on iOS although Mobius and Record Keeper are also amazing f2ps. My expectations are quite high since War Of The Lions is legendary and I am crossing my fingers that this is going to be epic.

      F2P - damn, damn, damn!

Yep... same sentiments here. Take what could be a good game and litter it with pitfalls, enticements, and inconveniences to encourage continued spending.

I pretty sure a lot of the online community is upset with this reveal (they hate mobile games for the most part) but it being f2p makes them hate it even more. I held out a small chance for premium but that was never going to happen. I've noticed that nearly all of these official videos disable ratings and comments, as if they KNOW they will get hate and disliked to oblivion for all these reveals. It's pretty telling since there's almost no other reason to disable both forms of user feedback.

They should disable comments and ratings since most people that get caught up in that angry mob mindset are irrational and more often or not enjoy being part of that drama without offering any value to the conversation.

Diablo Immortal is the perfect example. Most of the most poisonous commentaries against Immortal were from people, like you said, who “hate mobile games” for whatever reason and they would never pick up the game in the first place but over the top hate filled rants definitely get more clicks than reasonable discussion or praise. Square Enix if anything took notes from how that mess was handled.

Also just because War of The Visions is coming out doesn’t mean there won’t be any premium Tactics games in the future and if one day another great premium Tactics game arrives I’ll enjoy the heck out of that along with their f2p offerings.

F2p meaning there will likely be an energy system. Do you like being told when you can play? Terrible.

I’ve never had an issue with Square ENIX f2p. Most eastern games, from what I’ve played, are usually much more generous than their western counterparts. I put a ton of time into Exvius, Mobius and Omnia and never felt the need to spend for an energy refill. To be fair Brave Exvius was probably the most limiting with energy out of the three especially at launch but it was never to a comedic degree that some f2p games are. I just find it strange we live in an age where companies practically give away games for nothing yet those games and gamers are looked down upon as some some of evil threat. I’ve never felt the need to spend more than I wanted on any f2p that stays installed.

I still usually end up throwing a couple bucks SquareEnix’s way just as a thank you instead of needing to spend to progress. There have certainly been free games that I’ve downloaded that have been limiting, those games just get uninstalled since there’s so many games now that go the extra mile for the players attention.

You want the editor to “disable comments and rantings” because you don’t like them.... then don’t read them. You don’t have to read them to be able to read the article.
My comment is as valid as anyone else’s.
I simply portrayed my dismay at yet another game going down the F2P path. I did not need to further elaborate, as my reasons for that opinion has been expressed over and over again by similar minded players. No doubt you yourself would know of them.
I don’t like that system and will express my feelings whenever I want in a respectful manner.
