Arena of Valor, Tencent’s huge MOBA also known as Honor of Kings in China, has been available in Europe for a few weeks now, and today it looks like a US and Canada release is getting closer. If you’re one of the many, many players anxiously waiting to get their hands on this super-popular game, you’ll be glad to know that you can now pre-register for the US and Canada, and pre-registering gets you some nice rewards. You will get a limited skin for the hero Ormarr as well as 108 gems and double experience card when pre-registrations reach 100,000 (which I’m prety sure they will). And if you get 5 friends to pre-register too, you get a Level 3 Arcana chest as a thank you from the developers. The page doesn’t provide any hints regarding a release date, but it can’t be too far into the future.
If you haven’t heard of Arena of Valor yet, think of it as a full-featured MOBA (3 lanes and the like) but with matches that last less than 10 minutes, a ton of heroes to choose from, and a variety of modes to play. It has been so successful in China that it became the source of debates on whether teenagers should be allowed to play it for long and whether the game is pretty much a threat to social order and cohesion. So yes, it’s very popular. It remains to be seen, of course, whether it’s going to be as big of a hit on this side of the world. Predictions? In the meantime, go pre-register and then check out our forum thread.
