If you recall, 2D fighting game Skullgirls had a mobile version announced in July 2016, with a beta test that happened that same year. However, the 2016 release wasn’t met, but the game still lives. In fact, developer of the mobile version, Hidden Variable Studios, has announced along with publisher Autumn Games that Line will help distribute the game. Line has some success in the mobile gaming world with the Disney Tsum Tsum games, but this is obviously a bit different from those. Still, this is the Japanese mega-service and corporation branching out into western game publishing.
The good news for players is that the soft launch is expected to happen this spring. Which is still a delay from the 2016 release date, but perhaps beta feedback led to the game needing some more work. Or, you never know, this is game development we’re talking about. Take release dates as polite suggestions and continue on with your life. Still, keep an eye out for that soft launch, hopefully soon. Spring is only weeks away!
