Riptide GP: Renegade ($2.99) launched on Apple TV earlier this month, and with its high-octane futuristic racing coupled with some beautifully detailed graphics, it went down extremely well with racing fans on the variety of platforms it was released on. However, with the series originating on iOS back in 2011, and the predecessor Riptide GP2 (Free) receiving much deserved praise in our review on its release in 2013, many fans on our forums have been eagerly anticipating when Riptide GP: Renegade would make the transition to mobile devices. Thankfully, it didn’t take too long – Renegade has today launched on the App Store, and with the same premium features for a heavily reduced cost of $2.99 (from its previous $9.99 price point for the Apple TV version), it seems Vector Unit have yet again created another hit for any fans of adrenaline-pumping, high speed jet ski-esque action.
The sheer amount of content within Riptide GP: Renegade really emphasises how the $2.99 price tag is a complete bargain for such a premium game. With a full career mode that includes unlockable stunts and customisable hydro jet vehicles, a fully fledged online multiplayer mode with up to 8 players as well as local split-screen matches, a challenge mode and customary Game Center and iCloud support, developers Vector Unit have certainly gone to significant lengths to improve on their already impressive Riptide formula. While we’ll be posting a review in the coming week, definitely consider giving Riptide GP: Renegade a ride, and let us know your impressions on our forum thread.
