‘Real Boxing 2’ from Vivid Games Coming Later this Year

TouchArcade Rating:

realboxing2logo2For whatever reason, the boxing game genre doesn’t really have a huge presence on the App Store. There have definitely been several standout arcade-style boxing games over the years, but the kind that lean more towards simulation have been pretty scarce. In late 2012 Vivid Games looked to rectify that with Real Boxing (Free), and for the most part they succeeded with flying colors. Now nearly 3 years later and a sequel is on its way.

You can read our original review of Real Boxing, but to be honest, much of it doesn’t even apply anymore as Vivid has constantly added new content and features to the game over the past 3 years. It’s an incredibly well-maintained, and popular, iOS game. Which means it shouldn’t come as any sort of surprise that a sequel is in the works. Here’s a look at the impressive trailer for Real Boxing 2.

Like the original game, Real Boxing 2 is built in the Unreal Engine so it’s definitely got some graphical chops. Also like the first game this sequel will be stuffed with different features and modes. The new Career mode will converge the single-player and multiplayer aspects of the game, and the boxer customization has been massively improved with different fighter classes, adjustable physical attributes, and hundreds of items to equip your boxer with. I loved the first game, so I’m excited to see what Real Boxing 2 is all about.

Vivid will be showing off Real Boxing 2 at Gamescom this week, and they expect to have it out sometime this year. You can head over to RealBoxing2.com to sign up for the free VIP Club which will net you a few exclusive items when the game launches as well as give you an opportunity to take part in the upcoming beta.

Does anybody know what happened to God of Rome? I'm all for this but they haven't even released, or even talked about the game I stated above other than a teaser on Twitter 1 year back.

What's with the old Gameloft opening thingy where it glows? Why is it here?

GOOD GOD Carter, your preposition is hanging out. Who do you think you are, Lenny Kravitz?

Yessss!! Cool. Hope it's premium and sub

      1. YARRRRR

Even if it is, it would be a sort of lame idea to buy it and subscribe. The company has a history of putting the games out as premiums in the beginning, then when premium fans are milked and payed for the premium game that can be played in a fair way they switch it to f2p, and add all sorts of f2b bullshit. I can easily remember 3 examples (correct me if I'm wrong): First OaC, Gangstar Vegas and Modern Combat 5, and I'm not even an expert or anything.

Order & Chaos: Redemption. After the crappy decisions they made in the first one, they need a little redemption. Though I doubt this game will give it to them.

But I actually like the way Gameloft stimulates players to want sequels instead of sticking with familiar games. Even if you like the original it will generally be faster to wait for the sequel to come out, download it and play rather then wait for the timer cooldown.

A good example of a sequel no one asked for.

Does this have anything to do with the first game? Like can you continue with your character previously or is this an entirely new game started from level 1?

I'd like them to remove the pay to win from the old and see this as a monthly sub or just a large upfront and only cosmetic purchases.

It should be interesting to see how they approach this seeing the old one still brings in quite a bit of revenue and they wouldn't want to cannibalize that.
