Kim Kardashian, the Jenner Sisters, Katy Perry, and Britney to Help Glu Games Earn 500 Million Dollars Over the Next Five Years

TouchArcade Rating:

Glu Games really hit a goldmine when it decided to go after a “little-known" celebrity, Kim Kardashian. So successful was the game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood (Free), that Glu has expanded its celebrity net to catch other celebrities, big and small. By also signing Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears, Glu has managed to create a player base that includes gamers young and old.

Earlier today, Glu, gloating about its prospects, translated its celebrity games’ success into a number: half a billion dollars over the next five years (and that’s excluding any future celebrity deals). Glu’s CEO, Niccolo De Masi, also revealed that the company doesn’t plan on simply continuing to develop 2D RPG games; instead, it plans to “expand that engine and that type of genre and expand the celebrities across multiple engines and multiple genres." As Glu is also interested in investing in virtual reality devices and wearables, such as the Apple Watch, I can only imagine the (nightmarish?) possibilities. It’s important to note that placing the future of your company on the shoulders of celebrities is like trying to play roulette on a cruise ship casino in the middle of a storm; you might drop the ball and lose everything. So, Glu’s bet is an interesting one, and it’ll be fascinating to track whether this half-a-billion number changes as the celebrity stock market fluctuates in the years to come.

I wonder if desktop buyers will be able to get the mobile version free, that would be amazing

      1. StealthDawg

That will not and should not even happen

    2. ImJPaul

I bought this game on PC. No idea why they can't translate it to the 6+. Regardless, fantastic game. A real mind "eff". Will keep you thinking for hours...or at least minutes. Darn Americans

      1. ImJPaul

Seriously. This is game is like "wow" good. Think, shadow complex all over again, except story driven.

I have a request for you developers at 11 but studios, why can't you guys make this war of mine compatible with atleast the iPhone 6 plus because I know for a fact that with the 6 and 6 plus increased screen size that I could enjoy playing this war of mine and have a great experience with it, so I really wish you guys at 11 bit could bring this war of mine to the iPhone 6 series at least besides the iPad ofcourse, if you bring it to the iPhone 6 plus you'll have even more money coming in for that game because ur opening it up for a whole other device the iPhone 6 plus, I've been really persistent with trying to contact you developers about this issue, via Facebook and now through touch arcade forums it would be amazing if you guys could write me back for the simple fact that I'm a huge fan of you guys, plus I'm willing to support your guys development team anyway I can. All I request is that you guys/gals at 11 bit studios atleast bring this war of mine to the iPhone 6 plus users because its an amazing game and I know it's playable on the 6 plus screen because of the increased screen size, I've even played iPad only games that actually went universal and played it on my iPhone 6 plus and it played milky smooth, please contact me back over this request it would really show to me that you devs up there at 11 but studios care about your fans/supporters, thanks. And p.s by the way this is the only game I've really wanted to see come to my iPhone 6 plus and not only tablets because I think we iPhone 6 plus users deserve that experience not just iPad owners. Thanks.

They won't probably ever see your comment.

Where does it say that it is NOT coming to iPhone? If it is iPad only that will stink but I have an android tablet as well..

      3. ImJPaul

Heh. You said 11 but studios.

      4. boydstr

Great statement hope they watch the forums the more people speak out the better the change they release it on more systems.

      5. Kgx the King

It would have to be on your phone cuz the app store is the same thing on all iOS devices

    6. Greenfort

    8. LordShad0wz

Since I have only an iPhone I guess the war isn't mine. They lose out on money.

      1. Wujek Grga

oh no. Some experiences are not meant for small screens. sorry

    9. Alex Laing

I don't know about you guys but I've never seen a game thats restricted to iPad. I got the iPhone 6 because the screen was bigger, negating ever needing an iPad. Now I'm getting ripped off an awesome game because....I don't even know why?!
