It’s always great to see games that otherwise seem lost to history get updated with new content. Plasma Sky (Free) is a fun shoot ’em up from 2013 that’s just been updated to version 5.0, bringing some new content to the game. The big new addition is the new Blockade mode, which throws wave after wave of block enemies and formations that is designed be tough and quick to play.
Along with Blockade mode, Conquest mode has been updated with twenty new levels, and five new bosses are in the game. There’s some new powerups, new music, and a number of other tweaks, such as all devices now playing the game without borders. The update is available now. The developer John Dunbar joked to me that he made this update “for some reason I don’t totally understand," but this solid shoot ’em up is still pretty fun even a couple years later, and the update makes it better than ever. Plus, it’s on sale for $0.99 down from its regular $1.99 price, so if you haven’t played Plasma Sky yet, now’s as good a time as any.
