iPhone developer Yose Widjaja recently contacted us about his upcoming iPhone game called Space Ninja which offers an interesting looking space shooter — but without the shooting.
The game is shown in this YouTube video and shows an accelerometer controlled vertical scroller in which you must navigate around bullets and shurikens. Fortunately flying over the turrets, themselves, won’t kill you.
The game offers some unique power-ups which can be triggered to help your way through the game. The 7 power ups include two bombs, a rotating lance, speed boost, repulsor / freezer and autosensor. The use of slow motion / “bullet time" allows you to navigate seemingly impossible fields of enemy fire. Sessions can be saved and played back.
While originally planned for a December release, it has been pushed into early January and should be available shortly.
i told the ppl on the thread; he said it was sick! and it sure looks like it
It says $9.99 at the beginning of the video

re: $9.99. Nothing official's been announced, I doubt it's set in stone.
@arn yes; although $9.99 is not official i think it is likely though. ea has been releasing expesive apps at around $9.99 only to bring them down on a "sale" then leave it permanently at that price.
you have to remember that this video is of the sneak peak on december. since then there has been changes. even in craigs tweet he says "the latest build", the delays r problably because of new things added not because of bugs; but we will have to wait and see
Looks great, but as always, you have to wait for the final build before you can assume anything. Too many have looked great in pre-release videos and then reality hits when the actual game comes out.
Personally, I hope it costs more and bring a ton of substance with it. Another racer on my iphone needs to have significant additional added value above the rest...
$9.99 was what EA Mobile's VP of Marketing told me at the event back in December. I am now pretty certain that it's going to be more than that, although I have no official info. I also have a feeling that this game is in for more delays.
Looks to be a beautiful port.
Insane graphics. Unbelievable.
It should be a hell of a game to take 20 bucks,
I mean, I wanna see a big difference to the fantastic fastlane.
Otherwise it would be a premium app I can easily ignore :)
I won't pay for names and brands. I just want quality and entertainment.
If it plays anything like GRiD, I'm in. If it's another lame racer where you just wiggle the accelometer a little, I'm comin' after ya, Craig.
Someone please tell that guy to clip his nails. Nasty dude...
Hope the game mechanics are better than in console versions of NFS games, hate rubberband opponents and that most of those games can be beaten with the first car of the game eg. no point upgrading since opponents always hoover a bit before or after you. If they don´t nail AI it´s not worth more than 5 bucks.
whoa! freakin slick graphics. But, is that auto-acceleration? Also, if it's costing me $20 US. I don't think will buy it. Unless, it's $9.99. That's as far as I can or will go to buy games for my iphone. Oh yeah, if it's auto-accelerate forget it!
seriously? what are you talking about, this doesnt look that great at all! graphics are good for the iphone, but look, so far, theres no sign of accelerating/braking O_o, the turns are like.. not even dynamic, the car just turns to a certain degree, much like we had it about ten years ago with sprite 2d cars~ yeah... i dont think i'll be buying this unless they make this a serious racer and not just another drifting arcade...
Well... I do NOT see this hyped great graphics... Quite good textures are there along with not too bad polycount. But it's pain too look at all this lighting and reflections baked right into textures.... Where's any dynamic lighting? No dynamic shadows, no dynamic reflections on cars shiny surfaces. Fastlane actually made it better. Visually NFS looks dissapointing to me. I'm waiting for Fastlane 2 ;) Fastlane devs must put some effort to polish their product but They've got better base to build on. NFS looks good and quite polished but more like next iteration in Gameloft's mobile franchise and not PSP quality product we're waiting for...
I'm pretty sure this game is going to do great. it's just to be bigger develoers like da and gameloft don't update their games
Not the greatest time to be bringing out more expensive games. In this economy I'll buy $2 to $4 games all day and $10 if they are fantastic. But $20? I'll pass. Not on a phone. And I don't think I'm alone. Premium priced games are a horrible idea at this time. Part of what makes the iPhone special is that for the premium price and service fees, we get access to content at great prices that other cell phones don't.
Keep it that way.
Anyone teach this guy how to center his camera on the object of interest? -__-...
Graphics don't look that great, and 1 pet peeve: AUTO DRIFT? WTF?
