Last week we told you that Herocraft’s tactical turn-based strategy game set in the Warhammer universe would be launching worldwide on October 28th. And do you know what today is? The 28th! Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf (Free) is now officially available. Space Wolf is a turn-based strategy game with a heavy card element, but this isn’t some card battler. People have likened it to the Metal Gear Ac!d series on the PSP, which is basically all I need to hear to download and check it out.
Alongside the worldwide launch Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf has also received an update which added Universal support for iPhones, an intro video, and lots of tweaks to both the early missions and user interface stuff. The game had been in soft-launch for about a month, and the impressions from people in our forums have been largely positive, even more so it seems since more people are able to download and play. And hey, since it’s a free download there’s no reason not to try out Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf now that it’s out worldwide.

Not enough bumpers. It's kinda dull.
A quick glance at it and I can see why you say it reminds you of a Gottlieb table. Black Hole definitely comes to mind. ( also Black hole is WAY harder in real life then in Pinball arcade)
I won't be participating in the token system (I don't play THAT much pinball anyway) but supposedly this supports iCade. I do like big buttons! I will test shortly.
I'm with you, Shaun! Don't appreciate the monetization model of this game at all, and I won't support it! Why ruin a good thing?! Well, it is what it is.....
I have yet to run out of tokens, of course, I've purchased over 30 other TPA tables, so there is plenty to play. If getting the Ghostbusters license helps Farsight pump out more pinball classics, I'm all for that. Looking forward to a great season, including Addam's family, Starship troopers (rumored!) and more :)
I'm a Ghostbusters fan and have been since being a kid. Just rewatched it again on BluRay. And like Zen Pinball, I was excited these guys got a big license. Unlike Zen's tables, though, I won't be paying for this one. Or even downloading it. Let me give you $1-5 for a table, and then I'll invest in it. As it is, this pay model isn't worth the space it would take up on my phone. Just a shame.
Whenever I hear somone lament how hard it is to find a real pinball table, I'm reminded how lucky I am to live in Chicago where there are 3 beercades with everything from vintage 80's tables like The Addams Family and The Twilight Zone all the way to modern tables based on Transformers and Avengers. One arcade here even has all their tables set to free play.
Very well written article. I completely agree. Very weird payment model, but a nice game otherwise. Hope we don't see this payment model again.
Couldn't agree more. I have purchased every table Farsight has sold in TPA and certainly they could have done better with whatever monetization model they have planned for these type of tables. I support their efforts but not these efforts.
I pretty my deleted it after the paywall started. Didn't really think the table was very good
Visual quality is low, table is pretty boring.
Considering you paid per game back then, we're just getting closer to the original monetization in Farsight's endless desire for authenticity. In the next version, you'll also have to pay for the occasional table repair when a light breaks, and some IAPs will get "stuck" in the coin slot.
I have every Pinball Arcade table and I buy them all on release day, but I'm not even downloading this one because of the monetization. I'll buy the tables, but not the tokens.
