King’s follow-up to Candy Crush Saga (Free), Candy Crush Soda Saga, is one step closer to a worldwide release on iOS. After soft-launching on Android earlier this summer, now the game is available to the general public on Facebook. With a mobile version already out there, but to a limited audience (Android soft launches are harder to get if you’re outside the launch’s country than on iOS), this seems to be a sign that we’ll be playing this one on iOS soon.
This is yet another match-3 game from King, with the goal being to pop all the soda bottles in a level by swapping gems. Popping a bottle raises the soda level, which in some levels will help expand the board to have more tiles in it. The game is level-based, of course, and uses Facebook to track high scores among friends. King does usually sync progress up between devices if you log in to Facebook, so if you start playing this one on the web, you should have a head start once the mobile version is out worldwide. Candy Crush Saga has been a massive hit, of course, and while King’s track record for making other successful games is improving, we’ll see how this one does when the mobile version finally comes out worldwide. The iOS version has soft launched in Canada if you want to take a crack at it on your iPhone or iPad.
