Steam Deck Weekly: Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth Now Available, New Verified Games, Horizon Date, and More

Welcome to a shorter than usual Steam Deck Weekly for the week. If you’ve not kept up with the recent happenings on the site in the world of Steam Deck, read my 5/5 Steam Deck review of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Tekken 8 in progress review covering the Steam Deck version. This week sees some notable new releases, release date announcements, trailers, and also a decent amount of Verified games. For some reason, this month and the first week of February are both very crowded specifically for games I was looking forward to playing in 2024. Let’s get into the news first.

News

The highlights of this week are both Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth having launched together today. It is funny looking back at the announcements of both games because I feel like both were revealed in the same month properly, and they are out on the same day. I love both games and already put over a 100 hours into Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and still have at least 50 hours worth of stuff I want to try through mini-games and the DLC. Watch the launch trailer for it below:

Tekken 8 has been awesome, but it has been interesting seeing how it scales on PS5 compared to PC. I’ll have my full scored review update of Tekken 8 next week once I’ve managed testing the online modes enough with a few friends and randoms on console as well as Steam Deck. If you haven’t gotten it yet, try the demo. This one is special. Watch the Tekken 8 launch trailer below:

Guerrilla announced that the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition launches on March 21st for PC, and it has been done by Nixxes Software who did the awesome Marvel’s Spider-Man conversions for PC. I have a lot of expectations for this PC version given Nixxes is behind it. It is up for pre-order now, and it ships with many modern PC features as detailed in the blog post linked above. Watch the trailer below:

Atlus and Sega have released the opening gameplay from Persona 3 Reload, the full remake of Persona 3, ahead of its launch next week on Steam and all consoles. Having played Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, and having watched all the Persona 3 movies, I’m looking forward to writing about Persona 3 Reload soon. Watch the opening gameplay for it below:

Xseed Games announced that the Galaxy Trail-developed fast-paced platformer Freedom Planet 2 will hit all consoles in April, but the news for PC is that a Boss Rush mode will be added to the Steam version when the game ships on consoles. I enjoyed this quite a bit on Steam Deck, and will replay it on console and check out the Boss Rush mode on PC when the update hits in April. Watch the trailer for the console versions below:

SNK announced that The King of Fighters XV is getting a big update next week on January 30th bringing in the Advance Strike system to fend off throws and physical blows to be more aggressive. This mechanic costs half a power gauge bar and lets you regain a half bar on both hit and block. I hope this leads into a new DLC season. Watch the trailer for the new mechanic below:

The final bit of news is Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn from Tengo Project and ININ Games has been delayed to summer 2024. A new comparison trailer has been released. This upcoming remake of the NES classic can be wishlisted on Steam here. Watch the comparison trailer below:
