Over the weekend, Square Enix announced that its excellent FMV game The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is coming to iOS and Android this spring. The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story has you tackle multiple murders taking place over the span of a century in an FMV game unlike anything I had played before. It has superlative acting and brilliant music. While it was a bit rough around the edges in its gameplay and interface at launch, it was patched and is definitely worth checking out right now. The Centennial Case feels like watching a big budget drama from Japan on Netflix with how good the FMV parts are. I featured it as one of the best hidden gems of 2022 on Nintendo Switch. As of now, The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story doesn’t have a confirmed release date for iOS and Android, and the announcement has only happened for Japan where it is due this spring. Since the game itself released worldwide on consoles and PC, I assume this one will make it over as well. You can grab it on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. You can also try the demo on PC and consoles to see how you feel about the gameplay mechanics. I own The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story on every platform, and while I did enjoy playing it on all of them, it shines on PS5 with the 4K videos and DualSense features. I hope the iOS version offers an optional higher resolution FMV video option since it does not look great on Nintendo Switch, but the file size might be a bit too much. Have you played The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story before or will you be trying it on iOS and Android this spring when it releases?
