SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Radiant Silvergun’ Returns, Plus ‘Wylde Flowers’ and Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 21st, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got a little bit of news to go over before we head into the trio of new releases for the day. Three games, three different genres, and three decent titles to check out. After that, we’ve got the usual lists of new and outgoing sales for you to comb over. Save some money, though: tomorrow’s another big one, at least in terms of sheer quantity. Anyway, let’s get to work on today’s stuff!

News

‘Radiant Silvergun’ is Once Again Available in North America

One of the many exciting announcements from last week’s Nintendo Direct was that Treasure’s classic SEGA Saturn shoot-em-up Radiant Silvergun was coming to Switch. On top of that, it would be available that day! Many people in North America made the decision to buy it when they got home from work, only to find that the game had been removed in the interim. The game remained on other eShops, and when that kind of thing happens it’s usually a rating problem. And yes, that is indeed what it was. Fortunately, things have been sorted out and you can now pick the game up wherever you’re at. I’ll have a review of it early next week, but I will say right now that it’s a strong (but not perfect) port of a legendary game.

New Releases

Wylde Flowers ($24.99)

Oh hey, another Apple Arcade game making the jump over to Switch. It’s a farming game, and it does most of that farming stuff the same way most other farming games do. The twist is that it turns out you are a witch. So while you will be doing the usual farming stuff by day, by night you’ll be doing witch stuff. You know, brewing potions and such. It’s a perfectly fine game. Not doing anything terribly interesting, but if you find yourself needing another farming game, it won’t let you down.

Midnight Fight Express ($19.99)

Gosh, the opinions of this brawler on other platforms are all over the map. Some people think it’s a brutal, fresh, satisfying take on the genre while others find its mechanics don’t quite click together the way they’d hoped. Anyway, you play as a former member of the underworld who is drawn back in by an AI drone to prevent a criminal takeover of the city. You can level your character up and unlock a wide variety of wardrobe options as you fight your way through forty-one levels. I have a feeling I’m going to fall more on the positive side of the line with this one, but I’ll have to put more time into it.

Cthulhu Pub ($9.99)

This is a simulation game where you make your own pub and run it. Other than the Cthulhu theming, there isn’t really anything too unusual about this. If you find yourself between Kairosoft games and have an itch for a sim, this seems decent enough.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

That sure isn’t a lot of new stuff. To tell the truth, Microids has a bunch of stuff on sale but I’m being more selective in my curation of late. Go ahead and bring up their publisher page in the eShop if you want to see the full selection. The outbox is a little more interesting. FDG Entertainment, Onion Games, Forever Entertainment, and a few others are wrapping up their latest discounts. Of particular note is Undertale, which only goes on sale a few times a year these days. There can’t be too many people that don’t already own it by now, but hey, maybe some of them are reading this.

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with a ton of new releases, including The DioField Chronicle, Potion Permit, Beacon Pines, OneShot: World Machine Edition, and more. There will be summaries of all of those games, plus whatever sales and big news roll in during the next twenty-four hours. Of course, all of this is resting on me not having a bad reaction to my vaccine shot. If the article doesn’t pop up tomorrow, you’ll know what happened. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
