SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Gigapocalypse’, ‘Ki11er Clutter’, ‘Roll The Cat’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 5th, 2022. It’s been quite the week for me, and I can’t say I’m unhappy to see it come to a close. We’ve got several new releases to look at today to close out the week, with a few interesting looking ones but nothing screaming “must-have". There are summaries of each of them, of course. Wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have those. There are also a bunch of new sales, and that’s where the real action is going on today. Let’s get to work!

New Releases

Gigapocalypse ($9.99)

Do you like giant monsters? If so, you’ll probably get some enjoyment out of Gigapocalypse. Play with one of nine different kaiju, rampage through cities, and take care of them in vaguely Tamagotchi-ish style. Not the deepest or most complicated of games, but its over-the-top silly take on the concept works quite well.

Star Seeker in: the Secret of the Sorcerous Standoff ($5.99)

A brief point-and-click style adventure game where you play as a wizard in a world where magic is illegal. You have to solve a magic-related crime or else you’ll end up in prison yourself. Collect evidence and use it to put the detectives on the right track, because the wrong track won’t be pretty for your future. It’s just a single room, but you’ll get a unique response from just about every combination of thing you throw at the detective. There is a lot in that room, basically. Seems to have a solid reputation on other platforms, so if you like the sound of it you’ll probably enjoy it.

Sofiya and the Ancient Clan ($7.99)

It’s a side-scrolling action-platformer from eastasiasoft, and that means you get some lewd pictures unlocked in a gallery as you play. It’s what they do. How is the game itself? Well, it seems to be adequate. Probably something that needed those sexy unlockables to stand out from the pack. Very five-dollar Switch platformer, in other words.

90" Soccer ($4.99)

Okay, so that’s 90 Second Soccer, not 90 Inch Soccer. It’s another soccer game seemingly inspired by Sensible Soccer, this time with a gimmick where matches only last for ninety seconds. Hence the name. You can play alone against the computer on five different difficulty levels, or against another player via local or online multiplayer. That’s more or less the size of it.

fig. ($9.99)

A game with a brief, not terribly in-depth eShop description, no gameplay movie, and a title that makes it next to impossible to find by searching the internet. Groovy. My gut says this is a little Metroidvania-style game, but I really can’t be sure. Sorry everyone, I guess some games just do everything they can to be invisible.

Logic Pic ($7.99)

More Picross-style puzzles for those who need them. More than a thousand, actually. Puzzle sizes go up to 15 x 20, and there are some color puzzles included. Extras include multiplayer modes and some power-ups you can use if your logic fails you.

Roll The Cat ($4.99)

It’s Sokoban, except instead of pushing crates to designated locations, you are pushing cats into their beds. You get fifty levels. Other than the theme, it’s the same old box-pushing we’ve been doing for the last… how old is Sokoban?… wow, forty-one years. Boy, that flew by.

Ki11er Clutter ($9.99)

Yeah, it’s another one of those Clutter games. Some of you love these, I know. You’ll be happy to see another 1700+ puzzles to solve, with lots of picture puzzles and such. Not much else I can say about it, you’re either in for more Clutter or you’re not.

My Dangerous Life ($12.99)

This is a BL visual novel about an international student named Hinata for whom just about everything goes wrong. He’s in a foreign country, his university registration didn’t go through, and the police are after him for being an illegal immigrant. He ends up in a share house with some rather unique men, most of whom can be potentially smooched. Your choices will determine which one you will smooch.

Clumsy Rush: Ultimate Guys ($6.99)

I guess Clumsy Rush wasn’t obvious enough with its, er, homage to Fall Guys, so now we have a new version that has Guys in the name. Up to four people can play via local splitscreen multiplayer. I don’t know. I would just download Fall Guys, but maybe I’m weird.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Arcade Archives sales, people. Those don’t come around often. Stock up now or potentially forever hold your peace. RPG fans who somehow haven’t gotten their hands on Divinity: Original Sin 2 would do well to add that to their collections. Anyway, there’s plenty of good stuff in that list of new sales, so be sure to scan it extra careful-like. The weekend outbox is a little slimmer, but give it some of your attention too.

That’s all for today and this week, friends. We’ll be back next week with more games, more sales, more news, and more reviews. The usual business. As for me, I’ll be spending my weekend picking through more of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’s a hefty fellow, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I hope you all have a great weekend playing whatever you’re playing or doing whatever you’re doing, and as always, thanks for reading!
