Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Some big names this week, but regrettably few Spider-Mans. Perhaps we had too many Spider-Mans last year, and this is the balance. Oh well. I have some other updates for you to check out, with a nice variety of titles. Feel free to read about them while you are eating your toast or drinking your coffee. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Dan The Man, Free Phew, I’m sleepy. Okay, let’s try to get a good start on this. We’ll be done in no time. Wait, the camera’s on? Uhh… hi. There is a new event in Dan The Man, crossing over again with good ol’ Barry from Jetpack Joyride and other Halfbrick games. Help him bring down Professor Brains in levels based on Barry’s most popular game, including the Legitimate Research facilities. A few new skins are here in the form of Robo Barry, Professor Brains, and the Legitimate Research Scientists. They’re like the delightful Minions of Jetpack Joyride. There are also some new emotes and even icons for you to collect.
Jetpack Joyride, Free Meanwhile in Jetpack Joyride proper, it’s pirate time! Ahoy, yar-har-har, copy that floppy, me heartys, all that rot. Collect Golden Skulls in this limited event to get some goodies. There’s a new Captain Steakfries costumes, a Davy Jones’s Locker Jetpack, and a Sunken Mech Vehicles. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! FTP servers! Walk the plank!
Badland Party, It’s a Badland Party! Party in the Badlands! Wait, isn’t there some evil force chasing people at all times there? How can you hunker down for a good party jam with that Sword of Damocles hanging over your buzz? Right, updates. There’s a new game mode called Challenges, and you will never guess what it offers. Wow, you more or less got that in one. I’m impressed. Over and above that, you’ve got twenty-five new levels to play, five new characters to unlock, and some improvements to the online matchmaking and play controls. If you tried this before and felt something was a bit off about it, give it another try. This update fixed up a lot.
Tetris® Beat, Surprisingly, this new update for Tetris Beat does not add any new music. That’s the usual update, but this one? This one is different. Keyboard mapping has been added for all you wild cats who want to play that way. There is some new visual effects when Fever Time is going on, and there is now an Off Beat indicator on the Medium and Hard difficulty settings. There are lots of little tweaks and updates along these lines, with UI fixes, performance improvements, and such. And isn’t all of that nicer than a new tune sometimes?
TRANSFORMERS: Tactical Arena, When you think Transformers, you think collectible cards. Yes, that’s what we all think. So we are all very happy that Tactical Arena has new Card Collector events, where we can join in limited-time activities to earn some sweet cards. This update also adds a new Assassin card type, plus new cards Nightbird and Scorponok, and has the kind courtesy to fix some bugs and make some general improvements on its way out the door. Thank you, friendly Transformers card game developers. You are the true Autobots… of our hearts.
Solitaire Stories, Okay, I just chugged an energy drink. I should be less loopy for the rest of this article. We’ll see. Solitaire Stories has some big news in its latest update: Spider is here! Yes, the popular variant is now available to play in this nifty game. But it wouldn’t be a Solitaire Stories update without a new story, would it? Luckily, the developers have obliged. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Off With Their Heads tells a new story where you explore Wonderland to try to find the missing tarts of the Queen of Hearts. You probably won’t like what happens if you can’t locate them. I’ll give this the UMMSotW award for this week because I don’t think we’ll find anything more Spidery than this today.
Genshin Impact - Sumeru Debut, Free New Genshin update time, which will make an awful lot of people happy. The latest version opens the Summer Fantasia event, with a new character named Shikanoin Heizou, a new limited-time area in the form of the Golden Apple Archipelago, some new stories, and some new outfits via an update to the Dressing Room. Well, if you’re a Genshin Impact player you probably know all of this already. But just in case, maybe fire up the game and have a look around.
Toon Blast, Free Obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update time, friends. And I have taken the path of least resistance due to running purely on caffeine, royal jelly, and guarana at this point. Toon Blast, everyone! That means fifty new levels with a theme tying them together that may or may not be in the actual game. That theme is… summer time! That seems to be a popular one right now. You can distract yourself from this blazing hot summer by enjoying summer in your favorite mobile games. Worlds where you moderate the temperatures. Provided you have an air conditioner in your room. If you don’t, godspeed.
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free No good, friends. I’m already crashing from the energy drink high. We have to wrap things up fast before I go all… whatever that stuff earlier was. Disney Magic Kingdoms is rolling into the second part of its Rescuers-themed event. Madam Medusa is after the Devil’s Eye diamond, and only Bernard, Miss Bianca, and Penny can stop her nefarious schemes. They’ll have to crash Medusa’s Riverboat to get the evidence they need. Wait, is this a theme park or some kind of secret base for villains? I suppose nothing is stopping it from being both. Food for thought. I shall reflect on my words and my deeds.
PUBG MOBILE, Free It’s fun seeing where these popular service games end up going over time. At a certain point many of them just sort of shed their main aesthetic and become the thematic equivalent of a cup filled with a bit of everything from the soda fountain. At any rate, the latest version of PUBG Mobile sees you exploring the desert and solving riddles in an event called Ancient Secret. Apart from that, BLACKPINK is having a global virtual concert for the first time ever, and PUBG Mobile is the host. If you haven’t downloaded the game before today, you’re too late to get in. If you have, log in and grab your concert pack to get ready for the performances, taking place this coming weekend and the one after. A little odd, but cool for fans.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
