It was just about a year ago during the Square Enix Presents Digital Event that a follow-up title to the massively popular Hitman Sniper mobile game was announced. The game had a placeholder name at that time, but the following June during E3 the official title was revealed as Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, and a bunch of details were finally revealed as well. Basically this would not be connected in any way with the previous Hitman Sniper title, but rather would be a side story of sorts to the World of Assassination Hitman timeline. Agent 47 has gone missing, so the International Contract Agency enacts Initiative 426 to deal with a new global threat. What is Initiative 426? Basically a team of bad-ass snipers dubbed The Shadows that you’ll get to utilize yourself in Hitman Sniper: The Shadows.
Gameplay-wise, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows follows the series formula of having you take out targets stealthily, and gives you quite a bit of freedom in terms of how you do it. Put a bullet right into someone’s head and try to not have it be noticed by anyone, or manipulate objects in the environment in order to create an “accidental" assassination. This open ended nature is what makes these Hitman games so much fun. In The Shadows you’ll have 6 different Agents to deploy, each with their own unique attributes and personalities. I’m really looking forward to a new Hitman Sniper experience, and if you feel the same then head over to the game’s website where you can pre-register and earn some rewards when the game launches globally on iOS and Android devices on March 3rd.
