Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. We’ve been friends too long for me to fib to you: this one was a wee bit rushed. I don’t know where my day went, but it went somewhere, and now we have this. There are some good games in here, don’t worry! But if the jokes are not up to snuff, or are too good, you’ll know why. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free Here’s one way you can tell I’m in a hurry: I’m awarding the coveted UMMSotW to the first entry on the list. Normally I like to wait it out a bit to increase the drama, but not this week. The latest Magic Kingdoms event is based on none other than Star Wars! There’s Luke, and Han, and my favorite, Chewie! They’re all here! And also Leia, Darth Vader, and a Tie Fighter Pilot for some reason. I am not immune to cheap nostalgia grabs, friends. Wait… does this mean Marvel characters could show up in the future? Is this how I get my Avengers Academy back? Wow!
The Elder Scrolls: Blades, Free Some kind of daily event quests going on right now, I suppose? Hunt your foes throughout this week and you presumably earn something. There are also some free skill resets on the weekend of May 1st, and Forsworn weapons will soon make their way to the sigil shop. This is all just a start, with more event quests and items heading to the game soon. I’ve barely touched this game since it launched, so I’m not sure what kind of shape it’s in. It’s still running so I’ll assume it has gotten better.
Hay Day, Free Hay Day! Still just as popular as ever, I see. And still plenty of goodies rolling in with each new update. This one introduces a bigger Sanctuary, with new winter and mountain areas added. That means more space for your animal buddies to stretch out in, which is good news in my books. To go with those new areas, there are new Baby Gorillas and Baby Reindeer. Yeah, that’s cute. Other additions include the new Cabbage crop, which can be used to make all kinds of tasty (?) cabbage dishes, a new Bath Kiosk machine that distributes beauty products and soaps, the ability to do custom Yard decoration, and some improvements to the Supercell ID Friends system. Hay, not bad. But that joke sure was. Let’s keep moving.
MARVEL Future Fight, Free Six years old, that’s how old this game is. Seriously, where does the time go? Things were so sunny back in 2015. Now, it’s all… this stuff. Anyway, what is Marvel Future Fight doing to ring in the anniversary? Overhauling its UI, for starters. It’s also adding new uniforms for Professor X, Iron Man, and Mister Fantastic. The latter’s new uniform is particularly interesting as it’s the Ultimate Reed, aka The Maker. Cool, cool. New character! It’s Mephisto, and his special ability deletes marriages in exchange for bringing the target’s elderly aunt back from the dead. That is a true fact and not something I just made up because I’m still a little bitter. The rest of the Fantastic Four minus Reed get their Potential Awakened, and a new Dispatch Mission has been added. Happy sixth, Future Fight!
Bloons TD 6, $6.99 A new content update has dropped for Bloons TD 6, and there are some good things contained within. For starters, there’s a very chill new Beginner map called Resort. Aptly named, it’s a nice place to relax a bit while popping Bloons. There’s also a new Etienne hero skin called ETn, and I have no idea what that is about. A Sails Again sea shanty audio track has been put in the Jukebox, and there are 14 new Trophy Store items. Those who have maxed out their levels can now earn Veteran XP and Veteran levels to go with it. Aside from that, there are some balance changes and a few bug fixes.
ANOTHER EDEN, Free Nothing too big in the story side of things in Another Eden‘s latest update, but there are a few points worth noting. Hismena (Another Style) is now encounterable, with a Fateful Encounter to go with her. There’s also a Fateful Encounter Elements Concerto Series available, and some events and encounters to go along with the Japanese version’s fourth anniversary. Wow, it’s not even the global version’s anniversary and we’re still getting goodies. Thanks, Another Eden!
Subway Surfers, Free Off to Houston again, Subway Surfers? Well, that’s fine. They’re going for the space thing this time, with Space Surfers Buzz and Alda joining the ranks. There’s a brand new Shuttle Board up for grabs, and Tokens to collect in exchange for some nice rewards. The actual locale itself is odd, with bits of a normal Houston mixed in with control panels, rockets, and other similar touches. Look, we’ve seen stranger.
AFK Arena, Free No new characters in this update to AFK Arena, which is actually a bit rare by this game’s standards. However, there are a couple of new skins for Izold and Lorsan, some new adventures, a new campaign chapter, and a whole mess of improvements, balance changes, tweaks, and more to make the game play a bit better. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t ducked in on the game in a while.
Toon Blast, Free Don’t worry, I didn’t forget the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update in my haste. I know how much you all look forward to it. We’re back to one of the Blast games again this week, this time Toon Blast. You know the drill: 50 new levels. The story around it from the notes refers to Red Riding Hood. How much of that you’ll actually see in the game isn’t a question I can answer, but you can at least imagine that well-known fairy tale as you match things. Mmm, imagination. The best game, really.
Blade&Soul: Revolution, Free This is one of the newer releases from Netmarble, who frankly have more free-to-play grind-em-ups than I can keep track of. This one is based on a very popular PC game, so that helps. The latest update adds a new War Zone in the form of the Ruins of Resent, and a new event: the New Moon Festival, complete with its own New Moon Dungeon. I’m not sure if this is picking up the way the computer version has, but hopefully this is just the first of many updates to come.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
