Action RPG ‘Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim’ from Falcom Is Coming to iOS and Android in Japan Next Year

Nihon Falcom’s long-running action RPG Ys series has had quite the history across a ton of platforms ever since the first game debuted in 1987. On iOS and Android, players have been able to experience two excellent games in the form of Ys I and Ys II Chronicles thanks to Dotemu. Since then, Ys VIII has been announced for mobile but it doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet. On the console and PC side of things, publishers like XSEED Games and NIS America have slowly been bringing more of the series to the West. Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim originally released in the West on PS2 and it was eventually released on PSP. Those releases were followed by a PC port in 2015 from XSEED Games that is the only digital version of the game available on a modern system right now. Following today’s announcement of an iOS and Android version of The Alliance Alive HD Remastered by FuRyu, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim has been announced for iOS and Android release in Japan. Watch the trailer for Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim‘s Steam release below:

Dengeki Online reports that Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is coming to iOS and Android in 2021 through Manhattan Project. More information hasn’t been revealed as of this writing. Just like most of the Ys games, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim follows Adol on a long adventure as he gets washed onto a new island. News of this port got me to reinstall it on Steam so I know what I’m going to be playing on Christmas day. If you’ve never played a Ys game yet, check out the ones on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch because you will not regret it. At worst, you will be introduced some of the best music in gaming. If you’ve already played Ys Origin or Ys The Oath in Felghana, both of those games built on the systems introduced in Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. In terms of plot, these are standalone releases so you can jump in anywhere more or less. As of now, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim has only been announced for Japan on iOS and Android. Hopefully it does get released globally since a localization already exists. What is your favourite Ys game?
