Golf Between Tiny Planets in ‘Golf Skies’, Launching on iOS and Android September 23rd

Golf is one of those games that’s been done every which way you could think of in video game form, so how do you go about coming up with something fresh if you’re setting out to make a golf-based game? Developer StarPolygon has found a unique solution with their upcoming game Golf Skies. It blends the concept of golf with a game type that has proven very popular on mobile devices over the years, the gravity-based planet flinger. Basically each golf course is made up of tiny planets that each have their own obstacles and gravitational fields. You’ll tee off from one planet and use those gravitational fields as well as your own ability to steer the ball in the air to hopefully end up on the planet that contains the hole. It’s a clever idea that I’m surprised I haven’t seen before. Check out the trailer for Golf Skies to see it in action.

Now, before you go thinking you can just steer your way to a hole-in-one every time, the ability to steer is limited by your amount of stamina. However, you can slowly refill that stamina by collecting coins, so if you do have an expert ability to steer your ball you could conceivably keep your stamina filled up long enough to direct yourself right into the hole each time. I’m sure it’s much easier said than done. Those coins can also be used to upgrade your golf ball and unlock new courses, with 6 full courses being offered on launch. Golf Skies will be free with ads and an IAP to disable those ads. It’s launching later this month on September 23rd and is available for pre-order on the iOS App Store and pre-registration on the Android Google Play Store right now.
