Beyond Finland: Working at Rovio’s RPG-Focused Studio in Sweden

Daniela Fontes is a Data Analyst at Rovio’s Stockholm studio. She joined Rovio in 2019 after founding a VR game studio based in Portugal. She works closely with the game teams at Rovio to set KPIs, monitor game performance, and improve the player experience.

In my role as a data analyst at Rovio, I work closely with our game teams to design, implement, and analyze tests that ultimately help the game team make decisions. I also work with support functions like user acquisition and user research to deliver insights to improve and optimize our games. One of the things I love most about my position is being able to touch such a variety of roles within the studio. Collaboration is incredibly important in every phase of game development, and our environment is highly transparent and cooperative, giving employees tons of creative freedom.

Rovio Stockholm is the team behind the hugely successful Angry Birds 2, so when I joined I knew the group would be talented. But what surprised me most was the studio’s ambition. Coming from a smaller studio, I was delighted to find a passionate, collaborative group here that isn’t afraid of taking risks to make the best games they can.

Outside of work, Stockholm has a culture that values both productivity and recharging, resulting in a great work-life balance. It combines the vibe of a hip European city with access to beautiful nature and high quality of living. Everyone in the office is warm and social, which makes it easy to get acclimated and adjusted to the new workplace.

Coming from another country, I can attest that Rovio makes the adjustment to living in Finland or Sweden incredibly easy. They provide relocation services like covering moving costs, helping employees find housing, and setting up utilities.

I’m excited to share that Rovio is looking to expand even further, and we have open positions in a variety of areas! If you have a passion for mobile games and want to be a part of something special, we’d love to hear from you. Whether your experience is in QA, live ops, user acquisition, or any other part of making games, don’t hesitate to reach out. All of Rovio’s studios are hiring immediately, and all jobs can begin remotely.
