SwitchArcade Round-Up: Mini-Views Including ‘Damaged in Transit’, ‘Galaxy Warfighter’, and More, the Latest Sales Featuring ‘Wild Guns Reloaded’

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for April 27th, 2020. It’s a really quiet one today, with no new releases and little news worth reporting at the time of writing. That means we’re just going to dig into the bag of Mini-Views, and I’ve got a nice trio of those for you to enjoy. There are also quite a few new sales to look at, and as usual I’ve listed all of them for you. Business will pick up a bit from tomorrow, so I suppose we’ll just have to enjoy this little breather. Let’s slide on in and see what’s what!

Mini-Views

Damaged in Transit ($14.99)

This game more or less skates on the line of what my caveman brain is capable of processing. You have to control switches that point two robots in various directions in order to help them reach the goal. You’ll often have to pick up keys or hit switches along the way, and for the most part the two robots will be following very different paths. Point them in the wrong direction and they’ll typically crash, forcing you to start the level from scratch. You can play with a second player, but I found this turned a very difficult task into a virtually impossible one. It’s pretty good, but be warned that it gets very challenging in a hurry.

SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5

Galaxy Warfighter ($6.99)

This kind of feels like a cross between a standard horizontal shoot-em-up and an idle tapper. You play through 100 stages that becoming increasingly difficult and more packed with enemies. Your ship is quite weak to start, but you can use the coins dropped by defeated enemies to buy various upgrades. Enemies will also drop the occasional power-up and your luck with those greatly determines how easy of a time each stage will be. It gets a bit grindy at times, especially if you don’t choose your upgrades wisely. With a small number of bosses that re-appear constantly and little variety in how each stage feels, the game quickly gets very repetitive. It’s somehow hard to put down anyway.

SwitchArcade Score: 3/5

12 Labours of Hercules II: The Cretan Bull ($7.99)

Right up front, I have to say that this isn’t really my kind of game. This is one of those casual strategy games where you have to complete set stages, generally as quickly as you can. In this one, you have to send out peons to collect resources, build structures, and remove obstacles in the road. Bigger obstacles like boulders require Herc to get involved, which usually requires a lot of resources. Once the road is clear, you move on to the next level. It’s not very challenging, but it’s engaging enough to hold your attention for a little while. That said, there’s very little separating this from other similar games like Gnomes Garden except its theme. If you’re okay with that, you may be okay with this.

SwitchArcade Score: 3/5

A lot of the usual weekend crew are here again, but there are some less-seen titles with discounts in the list. Wild Guns Reloaded is an awesome, unusual shooter and is well-worth a tenner. The Fate games have lots of fans for good reasons, and Heroland is an off-beat RPG that will appeal to those looking for something a little different in the genre. Not too much in the outbox today, but have a look anyway to make sure there isn’t anything you were meaning to buy.

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with some new release summaries, and hopefully the news and sales stuff will cooperate to help round things out. Yeah, we’re really just marking time until Streets of Rage 4 hits later this week, but who knows what surprises may pop up along the way? I may also have a review ready for Trials of Mana, but we’ll have to see. I hope you all have a solid Monday, and as always, thanks for reading!
