The Muv-Luv series is something I only recently got into through the PS Vita ports of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative which arrived a while after most people played the original trilogy on PC. Both of those PS Vita releases include all three games in the trilogy. Muv-Luv‘s story seems like a basic romantic story but it soon evolves into much more including grand scale sci-fi adventures. The problem with most visual novels that are worth playing is they usually are super long. I’m glad this trilogy released on PS Vita so I could start to experience it because there is no chance I would’ve even bothered with it if it was PC only. Watch the trailer for the original game below:
Today, developer Âge had a live stream to celebrate its 20th anniversary through a “Still Breathing" event. This had a lot of announcements for Muv-Luv fans including a new anime and a follow up to Muv-Luv Alternative. Âge also announced a new mobile game and before you raise your pitchforks, the 3D action game that is seemingly focussed on mechs from the franchise will not have gacha elements. The developers are considering a battle pass or subscription model though. Check out the complete announcement from the live stream from the timestamp 3:34:00 onwards below:
The project is currently codenamed Project Mikhail and it is set to release in 2020 (with a possibility of being pushed to 2021) on iOS, Android, and PC. It will be released with support for English, Japanese, and Chinese languages. One of Muv-Luv’s biggest barriers for newcomers is how slow the game’s narrative is initially. Everyone I know who has played the trilogy adores it. I’m looking forward to this game when it releases hopefully next year on iOS. Have you tried Muv-Luv yet and what do you think of a non gacha action game for mobile in the same universe?
