Apple Arcade has surprised a lot of people by offering literally dozens of great games right from the get go. A lot of people including myself have been wondering what is going to come next in terms of new releases and announcements. I’ve been wondering about the pace at which new games will be added and whether we should expect something each week or each month like other subscription services in gaming. Over the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by Amanita Design who announced and released a brand new adventure game called Pilgrims () for Apple Arcade and PC. Watch the trailer for it below:

Pilgrims feels great to play and oozes charm just like Botanicula which is my favourite game from Amanita Design. It has great pencil sketch style visuals coloured brilliantly and has a card interface for solving puzzles and helping people. I love how the game looks in portrait and in landscape. If you enjoy Amanita Design games, you’re probably wondering about the sound effects. So far, they are superb and fit the aesthetic perfectly. I can’t wait to play more of it.

If you’re interested in checking it out, Pilgrims is now available on Apple Arcade. It is also available for $5 for PC on the Amanita Design website that includes a Steam key. Surprise releases are often great but surprise releases by developers who understand a platform very well and developers who have made superb games in the past are even better.
