After 4 long years it appears that developer Yak & Co. is finally releasing the final episode of their excellent point-and-click adventure game Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise (Free). I say it appears that way because, well, true to their form Yak & Co. isn’t coming right out and saying it but instead tasking their fans with solving a puzzle to reveal their big news. They posted the puzzle on their Twitter account late last week, and if you’d like to figure it out for yourself I’ll embed the tweet below before spoiling the solution in the next paragraph.

So… the answer to the puzzle reads guaeninowt, which sounds like gobbledygook until you read it backwards, in which case it reads twonineaug or rather two nine aug. Two nine of August, or the 29th of August. While chapter 5 of Agent A, which is titled “The Final Blow", was originally supposed to release in the second half of last year, Yak & Co. also announced that the game would be making its way to consoles and PC in completed form, hence the additional time for development. The console and PC versions will launch complete with all chapters and the existing iOS and Android versions will receive Chapter 5 as a free update. All this should go down on August 29th.
We really enjoyed Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise in our original review from back in the fall of 2015, with our chief complaint being how short the game was and how anticlimactic the ending was. That of course was set to be rectified when Yak & Co. announced that three additional chapters would be released for the game, with Chapter 3 “Ruby’s Trap" arriving in December of 2016 and Chapter 4 “A Narrow Escape" arriving in December of 2017. It may have taken literal years, but Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise has really grown into the wonderful full experience we always felt it could be, and we can’t wait to see the finale when “The Final Blow" arrives at the end of this month.
