SEGA announced a mobile game based on Fist of the North Star last month. This game is Fist of the North Star: Legends ReVIVE that is set for iOS and Android release in Japan. I was pretty surprised at the announcement because I thought SEGA was done with Fist of the North Star after the PS4 game Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise that was developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio who are responsible for the Yakuza franchise. Today, SEGA unveils the first trailer that has some cutscenes and gameplay footage for Fist of the North Star: Legends ReVIVE. Watch it below:
Gameplay looks pretty straightforward for your usual mobile RPG with a free to play focus but it has a generous serving of the over the top action from Fist of the North Star. It also looks like it is using some assets from the PS4 game at least for character models and animations. This will likely not see a localisation unless SEGA has the rights for more than just the PS4 game outside Japan. I’m pretty excited to check it out when it arrives on the App Store in Japan. I already played the PS4 game demo in Japanese a few times because I didn’t think it would get an English release. Hopefully the final build for Fist of the North Star: Legends ReVIVE does a good job of pleasing fans of the anime and manga with the various finishers and characters people love.
Check out the official website here where you can pre-register for iOS. You can pre-register for Android on Google Play here. Have you played the PS4 game or watched the Fist of the North Star anime?
Update: Added localisation details from SEGA of America including English trailer and international pre-registration links.
