Tencent Details ‘Arena of Valor’ World Cup Plans

TouchArcade Rating:

Esports. They’re a thing. Arena of Valor (Free) is one of the biggest games on the planet, so I suppose it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that they’re coming up on the finals of the Arena of Valor World Cup which is going to award a $550,000 prize pool. That’s an unbelievable amount of money for a mobile game tournament. Just think, you could take skills earned literally on the toilet for a shot at a share of half a million bucks. Tencent released a video showing off the teams that are going to be competing:

If this is something you’re even remotely interested in, there’s a few dates you’ll want to add to your calendar, starting on July 18th. On the 18th and 19th group match will be held, which lead into the quarter finals on July 21st and 22nd. Whoever is victorious there will make it to the World Cup finals on July 27th and 28th. The finals will be held at the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, which I guess isn’t much of a surprise as iconic locations and esports seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly.
