Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. After taking last week off to conduct some important confidential business for the Shadowy Consortium that rules TouchArcade Towers, I’m back once again to bring you an assortment of updates to check out as you enjoy your morning coffee. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!
Dungeons of Chaos REVAMPED ED., $5.99 BARDS. GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS BARDS. Dungeons of Chaos is always getting great updates, and this one is a corker. It adds a new advanced player class in the form of the bard. You can access it from the Chapter 2 Castle Hall, and any player class can switch to it. Bards have six class-specific skills and 16 instrument-based powers to use, and as you might guess you’ll want to be equipping your bard with a musical instrument of some sort. Don’t worry, though, as you’ll now find them sold in shops and rarely among loot. Add in some new achievements, some new skill trainers, and a special instrument as an arena award, and you have a bard-tastic update. There are some other additions, tweaks, and such, but I’ll let you sort those out.
CHRONO TRIGGER (Upgrade Ver.), $9.99 I keep hoping that the mobile Chrono Trigger will get the update our PC friends got that allows players to choose if they want filtered or classic graphics. It’s not this one, though, folks. Instead, we get an update that lets us target enemies by tapping when using Techs that attack in a line or are centered around a particular point. Useful, welcome, all that. Just not very exciting. Graphics filters, please. This update also fixes some glitchy areas where the game slowed down when it wasn’t supposed to. Well, it’s Chrono Trigger you can play anywhere. I guess they don’t need to add much more to that.
CSR 2 - Realistic Drag Racing, Free An update to CSR Racing 2 almost always comes down to new cars, but this one? Well, this one is also new cars. But there are a lot of them! The Fast & Furious tie-in is coming to an end, with a chance to win a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. Yes, that’s right: Groot’s car. Good luck, I bet the odds of actually getting that thing are infinitesimally small. There’s also a second anniversary thing going on, and the developers are giving out a special Anniversary Dodge Snakeskin Viper ACR as a gift. There’s a special Made in America Event to celebrate Independence Day, so bring out your finest muscle cars and see how you fare. Other new cars include the Bentley Continental GT, the Ford Mustang HPE750, the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder Final Edition, the KTM X-BOW R, and the Plymouth Barracuda TorC Weaver Customs Independence Day edition. And that’s the lot.
Mortal Kombat, Free Apparently there’s some kind of massive sports event going on right now, and not even the NetherRealm can ignore it. New characters Kombat Cup Johnny Cage and Kombat Cup Sonya Blade join the roster via special challenges, bringing some unusual new moves with them that involve soccer balls, whistles, red cards, and so on. I guess that’s kind of interesting? I’m surprised they didn’t call it Kombat Kup, but I suppose even the developer of Mortal Kombat kan get tired of konstant Ks.
Clash Royale, Free Hello, Clash Royale. You are here to attract more people to this article, but you are also here because you got a pretty good update this week. Two new cards! The Giant Snowball and Royal Hogs can spice up your strategies if you’ve got a mind for bringing them in. If you’re happy with your cards but want new emotes, there’s a shop for that. Craft your emote deck so that you can emote more effectively. Tons of little improvements for Arena Battles and Clan Wars, and some other things that Supercell didn’t put in the update notes and I’m not going to look up. You can check out the full list in the game, though.
Stickman Soccer 2018, Free This timely release is just as fun as all of the other Stickman Sports games. They’re great to pick up for quick and casual play, even if they tend to have their share of flaws. One thing they don’t cut corners on is updates, however. This one has had several already and this latest one adds a whole new league to the game, the Brazil League. This follows hot on the heels of the French League. You can also look forward to new ranking and leaderboard functionality, with some sweet daily and weekly prizes on offer. Other than that, it’s bug fixes and improvements as far as the eye can see.
Brew Town, Free Those who like to have flights of fancy involving starting their own breweries will find a lot to like in Brew Town. Which, you know, you would hope. It’s named Brew Town, after all. Anyway, this update is kind of small but I wanted Brew Town in here and here it is. There’s some kind of vote where you can choose the best of the best in daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time rankings. Perhaps more immediately interesting is the Sportsball World Cup theme, which decorates your town to appeal to soccer fans for some reason. This theme includes new shapes and decals. Nobody doesn’t like those!
Subway Surfers, Free The never-ending world tour of the Subway Surfers continues. These children cannot rest so long as there remain unsurfed subways somewhere in the world. This time they head to India to surf the streets of Mumbai. Head out with Jay, take a ride on the new Color Cloud board, and pick up a new outfit that makes Jay into a Color Master. Whatever that is. This event is all about the colors, though. You’ll have to collect bowls of color powder to unlock rewards this time. I think they look like flavored shaved ice, but I would, wouldn’t I? Classic Shaun.
SEGA Slots: Vegas Casino 777, Free Yes, this exists. It’s a pretty typical slot machine app, but all of the machines are SEGA-themed, which automatically makes it better. It has Sonic Slots, Monkey Ball Slots, Golden Axe Slots, and as of this update, Altered Beast Slots. Sure, why not? It’s surprisingly well-made if you’re into this sort of thing, I guess. And I see potential for a lot of silly SEGA fan service as time goes on. That’s worth something. Let me see what I have around here. Oh, here we go: a not-so-coveted old Update Mondays Most Billy Hatchers of the Week award. It’ll have to do while I’m waiting for the next shipment of the usual trophies.
Sir Questionnaire, $3.99 And here’s an update for the ever-so-gentlemanly Sir Questionnaire. Seems like a good place to stick a pin in this week’s article. You’ve got a new collection of monsters and a whole new area called The Cold. It has snow. You know. There are also some new shield types, weapons, and items to try out, so get in there and start hacking and slashing for fun and profit. That’s all I’ve got, friends. Sorry!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
