‘Pokemon GO’ Global Catch Challenge Was a Huge Success

TouchArcade Rating:

Over the last 7 days, Pokemon GO (Free) players managed to catch 3.36 billion Pokemon, beating the 3 billion Global Catch Challenge goal by some margin (not that I had any doubt they would manage that). The global event saw players try and grab as many Pokemon as they can to unlock all kinds of rewards, including some legendaries, and I’m sure that most Pokemon GO players had a blast over the past week. Apparently, players from more than 140 countries participated in the challenge, which is pretty crazy if you think about it. Grabbing those 3 billion Pokemon unlocked Ho-Oh in Legendary Raid Battles at Gyms near you, so make sure to grab that one before it leaves us on December 12th.

The event also included a Pokemon GO Safari Zone event in the Tottori Sand Dunes, which saw almost 90 thousand trainers catching over 12 million Pokemon. A great success that brought an estimated 16 million dollars in travel and tourism revenue to the Tottori Prefecture. Did you participate in the Global Catch Challenge? Did you manage to catch any cool Pokemon?
