Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Hearthstone’, ‘Marvel Future Fight’, ‘Dungeons of Chaos’, ‘Panmorphia’, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. The biggest pop from last week’s updates is undoubtedly that one card game from our orc-loving friends, but there were lots of other cool ones too. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!

Dungeons of Chaos REVAMPED ED., $5.99 Dungeons of Chaos seems to get updates all the time, so you might wonder what it could do to avoid becoming part of the furniture here in Update Mo… Best iPhone Updates. Well, the latest update adds a whole new chapter to the game, complete with new monsters, quests, items, arenas, achievements and job classes. Okay Dungeons of Chaos, we see you. Anyway, this was already a great, content-rich game. It’s now even greater and… content… richer… so if you need a good solid RPG, you might want to pick this one up.

Disco Ducks, Free The developers of Disco Ducks and I seem to share a fondness for references to ancient bits of pop culture the bulk of our audience probably doesn’t know or care about. Maybe that’s why I’m compelled to throw it into the mix now and then even though its update notes are rarely anything more exciting than announcing 30 new stages have been added. But friends, hear me out: the notes say that there is a new piece of music for these stages, and they say that it is DUCKTACULAR. How can I not include that? Nobody dast blame this man!

Super Nano Jumpers, $1.99 Super Nano Jumpers made a good impression in TouchArcade Towers when it released a couple of months ago. But you know ol’ Shaun, he’s not truly impressed until you make it rain with the updates. Well, now that this game has a new fifth world with 15 new levels to play, I’m willing to give it a french fry. JUST ONE. I hate it when people don’t want to order their own french fries, then pick at yours instead. Seriously, just order your own french fries if you want some. It’s no big deal. These ones are mine. Hey, how about those new levels?

Subway Surfers, Free Where are the kids going this time around? Florida? Hunh. So, like, are we doing a Mickey Mouse thing, a Jeb! thing, or… oh, the Miami thing. Yes, I suppose we can work with that. Okay, the Subway Surfers are stopping by Miami on their never-ending world tour, and that means pink flamingos, beaches, palm trees, and a Sonny Crockett outfit to unlock. Friends, I remember when McDonalds Japan had a Miami Burger and for some reason put tortilla chips on it. Totally incorrect, absolutely bizarre, very tasty. This update is probably truer to Miami. But certainly less tasty, so six of one, half dozen of the other, right?

Vainglory, Free New hero time for Vainglory. This time we get Reza, a fire mage who can turn into a demon, which is pretty much two power sets for the price of one. One soul, that is. Mwa ha ha, and all that rot. Anyway, Reza can light people on fire and also maybe explode them, which is approximately what you would expect from someone with his capabilities. But can he make Julienne fries with nothing more than a sack of red potatoes, a butter knife and a will to please his dinner guests? Only time will tell.

Need for Speed No Limits, Free Executive decision: my description for this and the other racing game this week will consist solely of the new cars added and the word ‘vroom’ repeated twenty times. SIGNED, SEALED. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat. Vroom vroom vroom vroom vroom vroom VROOM vroooooom vroom VROOM vroom vrooooom vrooooooooom VROOOOOM VROOOOOOOOM vroom vroooom vroom vroom VROOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

Asphalt Xtreme, Free The GMC Vandura, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Touring Car 2016, the GMC Sierra 2500 HD. Vroom vroooooom vrooom VROOOM vrooooooom, vroooooooooooom vroom vrooooom VROOOM vrooooom, vroom vroom vroom vroooooom VROOOOOM, vrooom vroooooom vroooom VROOOM vroooooom. I’m probably fired now. Sorry, friends. I was just trying to simulate the games with the only means at my disposal. I deeply regret… NOTHING! VROOM VROOOOM VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

MARVEL Future Fight, Free I suppose it makes sense that the longer these Marvel games go, the harder it is to introduce batches of characters that actually have something in common. That’s how we end up with a trio like the latest to hit Marvel Future Fight. On the one hand, we’ve got Miggy “Don’t Call Him Mike" O’Hara, known to some and many as the Spider-Man of 2099. Naturally, he’s in his popular original costume as opposed to his newer one which will probably be added in a later update. But then the other two characters are villains Crusher Creel and Titania, curiously one of the most stable couples in Marvel Comics history. What’s the connection? Ehn, don’t sweat it too much. New costumes include an unmasked Spider-Gwen, Yondu’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 outfit, Kid Kaiju’s Monsters Unleashed duds, and Thanos’s Secret Wars: Infinity get-up. I like the S-Man a lot, so I’m giving this game this week’s coveted UMMSMotW award.

Soda Dungeon, Free Soda Dungeon really is a fun little bit of RPG fluff, and I’m glad that Armor Games has kept up the updates for so long. In the latest version, you can find six new mythic and legendary items. The UI during dungeon runs now includes a Caps Earned indicator, and relic tokens can now be bought in Dimension 2 and beyond. You can double your banker earnings by watching an ad, and the banker’s gold limit has been raised to 10 million to accommodate your potential increased earnings. Now go hit the fountains! No, not literally! No, no, those are expensive! Ah, geez. Just…geez, friends.

Hearthstone, Free Right, this got an update, didn’t it? That must be where everyone went. I thought it was a holiday or something. So as you may or may not know by now, Hearthstone got a new expansion called Knights of the Frozen Throne. Take it from someone who grew up in one of the colder parts of Canada, frozen thrones are not pleasant, particularly first thing in the morning. This particular Frozen Throne comes with 135 cards, though, so that might be okay. These include the new Hero Card type, which allow you to transform your existing hero into a new one. There are also lots of new missions and so forth, but you know what? I think you should probably check out our stories that cover this specifically, because it’s too much for a little paragraph here. Someone go get Taso, or something.

Panmorphia, $2.99 If you like puzzle-adventure things, Panmorphia is a pretty cool one that is very under-the-radar. The developer updated it this last week with some serious under-the-hood improvements. Specifically, the game has been completely rebuilt with a different engine that vastly improves performance and makes the game more future-proof. Navigation has been simplified and the map has received some adjustments to make it easier to get around. There are also more visual clues to help you find those pesky little hotspots to tap on. The game also supports several new languages.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
