We’ve been following the development of The Frostrune for some time now, even seeing it played at GDC 2016, and the time has come for the game to make its way to our devices on February 2nd. The Frostrune is an adventure game based on Norse mythology and culture where the player finds himself shipwrecked on an island after a storm, and the only settlement nearby appears to have been abandoned very hastily. If you’ve ever watched horror movies, you know that’s a sign of bad things to come. The forest around the settlement is dark and filled with rune stones and burial mounds, another sign of how “welcoming" the island is.
You’ll have to solve many puzzles as you try and figure out the island’s history, but I think what will draw you more is the great art, music, and the overall sense of unease of The Frostrune. Add to that the magnetism of Norse mythology done well, and we probably have ourselves a winner.
