‘Detective Pikachu’ Pokemon Film Gets ‘Goosebumps’ Director

It seems everyone is talking about Pokemon again, although this time it’s primarily about Pokemon Sun and Moon rather than Pokemon GO. In addition to those two very popular games, there’s also a Pokemon film on the way, as we’ve talked about in the past. After getting Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch to write the script for Detective Pikachu, Legendary Entertainment has now picked Rob Letterman to direct the upcoming live action film. Letterman has directed Goosebumps and Monsters Vs Aliens and also wrote and directed Shark Tale.

As you can tell, we don’t have that much information on the movie’s plot, but if there was a time to release a Pokemon movie, this would be it. With Pokemon GO getting so much buzz in the summer and now Sun and Moon doing great, Pokemon are everywhere. It will of course take time to get the movie done, but I have a hunch they are rushing as much as they can so they can take advantage of the franchise’s current popularity.

Didn't most of the half brick talent leave to make their own studio? This game doesn't have the charm of JJR or Fruit Ninja.
