‘Dungeon Rushers’ Merges Turn-Based Strategy With Level Creation, Launching February 2017

TouchArcade Rating:

Mi-Clos Studios have forged a reputation releasing for high-quality, atmospheric games on the App Store over the years, with Out There: Omega Edition ($4.99) being one of our favourite titles of 2014 (and the later 2015 revamp solidifying such glowing praise). As a result, anything with the Mi-Clos moniker immediately grasps my attention – the recently announced Antioch: Scarlet Bay has definitely piqued my interest, but it’s the upcoming iOS port of Dungeon Rushers that has made me particularly excited for what 2017 has in store for gamers on the App Store. Dungeon Rushers – which already released on Steam back in September – combines turn-based strategy with dungeon crawling elements, sprinkled with a whole host of classic RPG tropes such as epic exploration across a whole host of environments and extensive customisation options, and should be releasing on iOS in February of next year. If the launch trailer is anything to go by, Dungeon Rushers should certainly be worth the wait.

While the game is actually developed by Goblinz Studio and is only published by Mi-Clos, the intricate detail and charm you’d expect from the latter developer appears present in Dungeon Rushers. Playing as an apathetic toilet cleaner called Elian, you’re tasked with joining dungeon looters as they travel across crypts, mines, jungles, and deserts in a quest for riches, and to prevent a nefarious corporation from monopolising the lucrative and seemingly unmoderated dungeon market. With over seventy dungeons, a whole host of brutal and barbaric beasts that must be beaten into submission, and even the ability to build your own dungeon and defend it with traps and monsters to ward out similarly minded scavengers, Dungeon Rushers is a refreshing take on a whole host of typical fantasy game tropes, and should be at home on the smaller screen of the iPhone. Head down to the upcoming Dungeon Rushers thread on our forums to ask the developers any questions you may have on their newest release, and to not miss out on any further details leading up to the February launch.

Not only is this game great, the dev is active here on touch arcade, constantly involving himself in the back and forth. If more devs were as half as good as this one, there would be very few bad games on the App Store.
As a huge fan of SRPGs, especially Final Fantasy Tactics, this is the first true SRPG that hits that itch I've been yearning for. If tactics is something you enjoy, skipping this would be a huge mistake.

Thanks for the review, shaun! Submitted the first update today that adds 2 new characters and some enhancements and bug fixes. Thanks to TA community for so much great feedback.

Thanks for making a fun game! My wife commented this morning that I've been playing on my phone way too much the last couple of days. I blame you.

    3. Kahdmus

Looking forward to playing. Love active developers that listen to their fans. Thanks LW!!!!!

Do i need to play the first game to truly get the story line or can i jump straight in, as i want to buy one but not sure which? I am leaning to first as im worried that if i get the second, i wont get it?

      1. Xandrak

I've been really enjoying the second as I largely played the first before they made most of the updates. My guess is that you can play the second and then go back to the first given how the devs continue to update the first one with all improvements and the big difference ends up being storyline and characters. Definitely give one of them a try though.

No real need, the two games are totally separate in terms of story. Very similar design as mentioned in the review. DR1 is a bit more tight corridors and congested dungeon crawler whereas DR2 is more open with larger battlefields.

Love it!! Great review... thank you, Shaun! Looking forward to more from this dev... SRPG's like this can't come enough! I am true fan of Wave Light Game's, for everything they represent.

I think I'm missing something about this game. I'm not having the same experience that everyone else here is. As much as I want to, I can't enjoy this game. Controls: controls are pretty bad. Loose as can be, especially the pitch controls drive me nuts. It might as well be a catapult instead of a smooth steady cam movement. The display: SRPG should give some visual context indicators. I can never tell who still has moves or not, and who can still hit or not by looking at the screen. The gameplay mechanics. My god, the characters in this game miss more than the weatherman. How the heck is a whole round of missing things fun in an SRPG? Responsiveness: there is a sluggishness to the responsiveness to every action. Overall I'm starting wonder if I'm missing some key details or if I got duped by paid commenters on here saying this is better than it is. What makes this game fun for you guys on here? I'm missing it

Dont enjoy this one. Stiff character movements, overall hud presentation not clear. Graphics are good but not my style, too squared IMY.

Sound worth buying the 17$ pack for them

The Dev is actively responding to reviews and taking suggestions on Google Play. Also refunding games fot those who want to. That alone is amazing
