Transportation Simulator ‘Mini Metro’ Coming to Mobile Next Week

It was just about a month ago that we learned that minimalist transport simulation game Mini Metro would finally be making its way to mobile, and now it looks like the release date for that mobile version has been revealed to be next Thursday, October 20th. Developer Dinosaur Polo Club and publisher Playdigious have started a Thunderclap campaign to drum up some pre-release interest for the mobile release of Mini Metro, and that campaign ends on October 20th at 6pm CEST which should be around 12pm EST here in The States. [UPDATE: Playdigious has clarified that the actual game is launching on October 18th, ahead of the end of the campaign.] Here’s the latest teaser trailer for Mini Metro on mobile.

Mini Metro released on desktop back in November of last year to a very positive reception, and the plan all along had been to bring the game to mobile where the touchscreen interface may provide the best way to play the game. We played an early version of the game on iPad back at GDC this past March and it played beautifully. We’ve been anxious to see the official release ever since, and at long last we should be stuffing an entire transportation simulation in our pockets when Mini Metro hits next week.

UPDATE: Playdigious has confirmed that the release date is actually October 18th, two days ahead of the close of the campaign. Hooray!
