State of Play’s Inks ($1.99) is a beautiful game, a piece of interactive art as Shaun called it in his review a few months back. It’s a pinball-paintball game where you have to hit specific targets as accurately as possible so you can pain them in the correct color. As the game progresses, the pinball tables become more challenging. What I like about the game is how nice the paint looks as you play and how you can use the paint trails to adjust your shots. While the physics leave a bit to be desired, the game definitely looks great and is a great one to show to non-gamer friends as an example of how good iPhone games can look.
The game is on sale for a dollar currently as part of Apple’s Indie highlight, but the good news is that now you can get it for free through the Apple Store (Free) app. The way that works is you first have to download the Apple Store app, and on the Discover page scroll all the way down. Towards the end of the page, you’ll see the Inks icon, and you can download the game from there. This is a fun one, so don’t miss out on the deal.
