Halfbrick’s Platformer ‘Dan the Man’ Launching October 6th

Halfbrick has been hard at work on Dan the Man, the official video game of the popular web series that was inspired by video games, for quite some time now. The game is an action platformer that plays out like an interactive version of the shows, which is something I’ve wanted for years ever since seeing the very first Dan the Man cartoon. We caught an early glimpse of Dan the Man back at GDC in March, and last month the game was soft-launched on iOS in select territories. This week Halfbrick has announced that the global release of Dan the Man is all set for early next month on October 6th. Here’s the last episode of the web series which sets up the story for the Dan the Man video game.

I’ve been playing around with the soft-launch version of Dan the Man and I absolutely adore it. It’s a platformer at heart, but it feels very much like an old-school beat ’em up as well. The combat is simple and button mashy but very satisfying, and as you truck through the levels in the game you’ll occasionally be stopped and forced to take out waves of baddies before moving on. You do that with either you fists, with several upgradeable moves and attributes, or a variety of cool ranged weapons. It’s a whole lot of fun, and I’m anxious to get my hands on the US version so I can plunk down my money on the IAP that lets me play as Barry Freaking Steakfries. Look for Dan the Man on October 6th and until then check out the forum thread for more.
