I have a hunch that Blizzard’s offices are all about Adventures this week, because instead of getting a typical Hearthstone (Free) Tavern Brawl, we got Storming Stormwind, a Brawl that feels more like an Adventure boss. In this Brawl you build your own deck and then lay siege to Stormwind. The city starts with one health and a 0/1 Armory equipped. Each turn, Armory gains one Attack, and even though you’ll never be attacked by that weapon, it will buff its minions. Stormwind also has a 2-mana Hero power called Barracks that summons either a Swordsman (1/1 minion that adds Stormwind’s attack to its Attack and Health) or a Shieldsman (a 0/1 Taunt minion that adds Stormwind’s Attack to its Health). Stormwind will also use a 2-mana 0/2 card that gives +2 Attack to adjacent units.
The interesting twist in this encounter is that every time you damage Stormwind, its health goes up, and your goal is to get its health as high up as you can before your demise. Stormwind’s Attack increases every turn, which means the minions you’ll face will be stronger. Bring a lot of removal along because those Shieldman Taunt minions will be a pain to remove. Spells that clear the board will help too. Stormwind will play many cards that buff its minions, so don’t ignore weaker minions because they’ll come back to bite you. And bring along 2 Acidic Swamp Ooze to temporarily take care of that weapon. Good luck.
