We are Getting an FC Barcelona Football Game Next Year

Despite some pretty fun football games recently – such as Pixel Cup Soccer 16 ($0.99) – I’m still waiting for a good multiplayer football game now that FIFA has turned into an imitation of a football game that disappoints me daily. Today, we got an announcement that Hugo Games, publisher of Christiano Ronaldo: Kick’n’Run (Free) , is developing a football game based on FC Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the world for those who don’t watch the sport. While I definitely don’t expect a ‘realistic’ football game judging from the company’s previous games, I’m still interested in what this game might have to offer once it releases.

According to the announcement, the game will include live PvP multiplayer modes, online and offline tournaments, the ability to challenge your Facebook friends, and the ability to upgrade your FC Barcelona players with special skills and boosts. The game will include all of Barca’s star players, and you’ll get to play in Camp Nou, of course. Now, again, I’m not expecting a FIFA-like full-fledged football game, but I hope the multiplayer part of this one makes it a fun one to play. And let’s face it, it’s not like football fans have too many choices at the moment. The game is planned for release Q2 2017.
