Following a successful launch on Android, developer Toka Loka Games brought their gooey platformer Goo Saga ($1.99) to iOS in late April, and it absolutely floored me. You played as a ball of goo with a huge personality (as far as balls of goo go) making your way through tricky platforming levels that demanded you used your gooeyness to expand or shrink down in size, as well as your suite of upgradeable special abilities. In addition, it was one of the more visually pleasing games around. For a fiver, Goo Saga was a totally worthwhile endeavor, and we enjoyed it a lot in our review, but right now you can get all that gooey goodness for the sale price of just 99¢.
In addition to the sale, the first real update for Goo Saga has also landed which adds in Game Center support for both leaderboards and achievements, MFi controller support, iCloud integration so you can transfer saves between iOS devices, an interchangeable “skin" system so you can change up the look of Goo, and plenty of smaller tweaks and fixes. You can check out a brief look at some of the skins in the above trailer. This was already a must have platformer for five bucks and for a dollar it’s a no-brainer, so if you haven’t checked out Goo Saga by now this is a pretty good time to do just that. Oh, and if you’re a Steam gamer as well as mobile, you may be interested to know that a special HD edition of Goo Saga is in the works for desktop, and you can vote for it on Steam Greenlight here.
