The Minecraft Pocket Edition ($6.99) developers wasted no time jumping into the beta for the 0.15 update, also called The Friendly Update, so today we got a crazy trailer showcasing many of the upcoming features. And it really is a fantastic trailer both because it shows off what’s coming but also because it shows off Minecraft’s immense capabilities. The confirmed features, some of which you can see in the trailer and others read about here, are pistons and sticky pistons, observer blocks (new blocks that can detect changes in neighboring blocks), leads, horses, fire charges, pig riding, skeleton horse traps, stray skeletons in tundras, husk zombies in the desert, the ability to tip arrows using cauldrons and potions, different villages in taigas and savannas, and more.
The developers are also hinting at a “mysterious, as-yet-unspecified friendliness," and I wonder what that is. We already know that there will be online multiplayer with Xbox Live friends and Xbox Live Achievements for iOS and Android, but I wonder what else we are getting. Is it simply a reference to Minecraft Realms finally becoming operational, or is it something else? Any ideas?
