Back in March, husband and wife development team Queen Bee Games released their action tower defense title Onion Force ($0.99) to a small but positive reaction. Being sick of the casual, free to play vibe of mobile gaming, Queen Bee created Onion Force to be a very challenging but still approachable game, selling it for $2.99 up front with no IAP. While it’s a tower defense game at heart, Onion Force has an extra focus on action with 3 playable characters you control directly. Also, one of the developers is an ex-animator who worked for the likes of Disney, MGM, and more, and Onion Force is filled with interesting characters and beautiful animation. Unfortunately, Onion Force has faced the problem of so many other great games on the App Store in that it’s hard to get the word out that it even exists. So, in order to drum up some interest, Queen Bee has dropped Onion Force down to free for the next couple of days.
It’s always a bummer to see small, passionate developers release games into the absolutely brutal market that is the App Store, so hopefully this freebie promotion will get Onion Force in front of a new audience of players who will hopefully leave some iTunes reviews and tell their gamer buddies about it. If you missed out on the release of Onion Force last month and you enjoy tower defense games, or if you simply appreciate beautifully animated characters bursting with personality, check out this freebie and if you like it leave some feedback in the game’s forum thread and maybe tell a friend or two that this game exists.
