‘I Wanna be a Hero’ Promises to be Like a Non-Rhythmic ‘Crypt of the Necrodancer’

I’m always up for some fresh new takes on the roguelike genre. I Wanna be a Hero, exactly that, is looking pretty promising. The developers are claiming inspiration from the spectacular Crypt of the Necrodancer (which really ought to come to mobile), though minus the rhythm aspect of the game. However, this does mean that the game isn’t turn-based, it’s actually roguelike while still being on a grid. While Necrodancer regulates its systems to a beat, it’ll be interesting to see how this works as a non-rhythmic game.

Based on prerelease footage I’ve gotten to watch, the game will task you to go through ten different floors, facing every more difficult encounters, while moving in the cardinal directions, moving toward an enemy to attack, and deploying skills as necessary. You can get new skills every time you level up, too. This one is expected to release in December, and it’s looking rather cool. Do check out the forum thread for more info on this one.

Update: We’ve corrected the title of the game.
