Possibly to celebrate the Japanese release of Dragon Quest 7 on mobile, Square Enix has been rolling out sales one at a time on some of the already-released titles in their popular series. Well, we may not know if we’re getting that game in English or not, but we can certainly take advantage of these deals on the excellent installments that have already been localized, right? The latest sale comes for the latest release, Dragon Quest 6: Realms Of Revelation ($14.99). Even though it just came out in July, you can pick it up for a short while at $9.99 instead of its regular $14.99 price.
Dragon Quest 6 follows the story of a young man from a tiny, unimportant village. While running an errand for the village mayor one day, he stumbles across a bizarre hole in the ground. When he goes through it, he discovers a whole other world. What’s the mystery behind it? Well, I’ll leave that to you to figure out. The game originally released in Japan only on the 16-bit Super Famicom. It later received a remake for the Nintendo DS, which made it out in English by the skin of its teeth. The iOS version of the game is based on that remake. The game features an unusual amount of characterization for its party members, and a robust job system. It’s also one of the longer games in the series, so you’ll have plenty to chew on if you decide to bite.
If you want a bit more detail about the game, I encourage you to check our review. It’s not my favorite game in the series, but it’s still awfully good. Looking at other recent Dragon Quest sales, you’ve probably got about a week to decide if you want it or not, and there’s no telling exactly when this particular installment will go on sale again. At the risk of repeating myself once too often, if the game looks good to you, it’s probably better to grab it sooner rather than later.
