When Simogo talks games, people sit up and listen. True, not everyone is as fascinated by Simogo’s games as I am, but even those who don’t enjoy most of the company’s products often admit that Simogo innovates and dares to be different. Ever since developing The Sailor’s Dream and its accompanying podcast, Simogo has been silent on its future plans, leaving many to wonder what might the illustrious company be planning. Today, Simon Flesser, mostly responsible for “art, sounds and words," surfaced briefly to announce to the world that he and Magnus are still alive and working on the company’s future projects. Simon says that they are quite busy at the moment because they are working on three projects simultaneously.
The first project is a videogame (the need to clarify that the first project is a videogame shows the breadth of Simogo’s artistic expression) in collaboration with Dakko Dakko, developer of Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims and The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character. The game is nearing completion and should be coming out before the end of the year. The second project is not a videogame, but it’s related to one of the company’s existing game-universes. Simogo’s working with Johanna Meijer (who illustrated The Sailor’s Dream) on this one and Jonas Tarestad (writer on Year Walk, DEVICE 6, and The Sailor’s Dream). This one will also be coming in 2015. Finally, Simogo’s third project is a videogame that the company seems to be very excited about. The game’s scope has forced Simogo to bring in an additional artist, and the project seems to still need plenty of work as it probably won’t be coming in 2015. I’m definitely excited to hear more about Simogo’s plans because this company has given me some of the most unique gameplay experiences on iOS. We’ll keep you informed on Simogo’s plans as we learn more about them.
