‘Queen: Play the Game’ is Out, Promises a Kind of Magic

TouchArcade Rating:

One of the best rock bands in history (if not the best) has just hit the App Store (unfortunately with a pretty plain and not very Freddie Mercury-looking app icon). Queen: Play the Game ($2.99) has just dropped on the App Store like a shooting star promising its players a kind of magic unlike that of any other music-related game. I’m not sure if the game is made in heaven, but I do know for sure that if you think Queen is more like Killer Queen, the champion of rock bands, you would be stone cold crazy not to download the game.

Queen

And now that I’m done using Queen song titles, let me tell you a bit about the game. Apparently, the game includes Queen’s original music, re-sampled sounds from all their hits and also recordings you may not have heard before. The gameplay includes band trivia and puzzles, and you get to unlock official artwork, discover new music, and even win real official Queen merchandise by participating in various in-app competitions. The game is replete with images, music clips and such from the Queen archive, with much of the content curated by Queen’s official archivist. The game’s creators plan to release new content and gameplay on a regular basis, which tells me that this isn’t a money-grab. The game is universal and costs $2.99, so if you like Queen or rock music in general, you probably should go and play the game.
