GDC 2015 was a crazy-busy time, such that I didn’t get to see much of the Noodlecake Games folks there, and Eli took the meeting with them. Thankfully, I got to see Super Stickman Golf 3, but one of the games I missed was the Ink Vial-developed Brickies, which Eli wrote about. There’s plenty of brick-breaker games out there, especially as Breakout (Free) and Arkanoid ($4.99) have existed in myriad forms, and a brick-breaker game came preloaded on Blackberry phones for such a long time. But what’s going on with Brickies looks pretty cool, as evidenced by this trailer just released for the game:
There seem to be some pretty nifty situations going on in the games, and the way that the levels are time-based rather than lives-based is a clever little twist. This is why I like to keep an eye on Noodlecake Games – the games they develop in-house and publish always seem to have something clever about them, even if they’re spins on existing genres, and they’re generally quite well-made. Expect Brickies sometime in the spring, possibly even next month.
