Regardless of how you might feel about Seabeard’s (Free) freemium tendencies, it’s an incredibly deep game with a lot of content behind it. Unfortunately, a lot of that content requires understanding the intricacies of its timer systems and how it trains players to play the game. The following compiles a few tips and tricks on how to succeed within Seabeard’s system. We talk a little bit about quests before discussing the game’s inventory system, sailing minigames, and even some tips on spending the hard-to-earn pearls.
Be Smart About the Quests You Turn In
Seabeard offers a lot of daily quests that are, to a certain extent, randomized. Sometimes you’ll get folks asking for the same types of items but some will reward money while others will reward items. A good common sense tip is to pay close attention to the rewards being offered by quest givers. If they’re asking for an item that takes some effort to create and their reward is a clothing or furniture item, ask yourself i you really need something like that. Personally, I’d rather save the item in question for a future quest that may reward gold or an actually useful item (such as Root Remover) – especially if you don’t have any supplemental quests that require you to add furniture and the like to your island.
Always Check Out the Quest Givers At Least Once a Day
Quests are always rotating in Seabeard so if you find some quests that aren’t worth turning in (assuming you pay attention to the above tip), it shouldn’t take long for you to find some new quests to check out. It’s a pretty obvious tip but some folks become so focused on fishing or selling items that they forget to check all the islands for quests. In particular, once you unlock the jail I highly recommend doing the bounty quests as they usually award a decent amount of coins.
Pick Up At Least One Inventory Upgrade
Seabeard gives you enough pearls at the onset to pick up a few small-time pearl items/upgrades. One of the things you can easily purchase is a bag upgrade which increases your inventory by five slots. I highly recommend you use your pearls on at least one bag upgrade as the default 20 slots is no where near enough space to gather items for marketplace sales while simultaneously saving up for big construction projects. Obviously picking up a warehouse would probably solve this issue as well, but considering the amount of time and effort it takes to purchase the warehouse blueprints and actually build the thing, it may take some time to realize its benefits.
Practice Inventory Management
A supplemental tip to the above one regarding inventory slots: know exactly what’s in your inventory and make sure every item has some purpose in your plan. Unless you already have a quest for a specific sailing challenge item or you have the appropriate market to sell it, don’t bother keeping any of those items hoping that you’ll get a quest at some other time in the future. In addition, unless you need a crafting station, don’t take an item out just because it’s complete unless you plan on quickly selling it or turning it into a quest giver. It’s totally possible to use ll the crafters as extra inventory slots otherwise. The same goes for using the cows and chickens to produce milk and eggs; don’t pick them up unless they are immediately going into a recipe or being sold. In addition, know the values of items and, if necessary, sacrifice lower valued items for more expensive ones.
Always Keep a Healthy Supply of Sales for Fish for Sale
Later in the game, monster parts and various items you can craft have decent value for sale, but until then fish will be by far the best way to earn currency. If you know you won’t be able to dedicate a lot of time during the day for playing I highly recommend stockpiling fish when you do get the opportunity to binge play for a little. That way, even if you don’t have a lot of time to play all you need to do is quickly log in, throw some more fish onto the market place, and log off until you need to do it again.
Always Take The Opportunity to Purchase Rare Items
On occasion, you’ll find quest givers that are actually simply selling you items for coins. On occasion, they will sell you particularly rare items such as Root/Tree Removers and Dynamite. If you ever get offered such a sale, always take them up on it, even if it’s expensive. In my experience, those types of items are incredibly hard to come by and are absolutely essential for island expansion (especially if tree removers and high end dynamite). You can always earn more coin via quests and fishing, the same can’t be said for finding the above items.
Travel to Different Islands to Rotate Minigames
If you’re looking for a particular minigame or difficulty and you don’t find it, try not to waste pearls in changing up the available games. Instead, fast travel to another island to rotate the games. Sometimes, fast travel has a tendency to rotate games amongst islands but not necessarily rotating the games themselves. In those cases, I’ve found actually playing a minigame does the trick for significantly changing it up.
Don’t Hoard Your Sailing Minigame Tokens
It’s easy to want to save your tokens for a sailing game that you actually need or want for quest or construction purposes but I’d suggest to not hoard them indefinitely. If you see a game that has a high chance of rewarding an item that you can sell, it’s never a bad idea to play it. Similarly, if you see a medium or hard difficulty on a game you’re good at, it’s always a good idea to play it even if the low-level item reward isn’t something you need; there’s always a chance of getting a rare item and that chance it worth spending a token on (especially if you know you can get first place).
Never Use Your Pearls to Speed Up Timers
I don’t care if you’ve spent a week gathering up all the resources for a new building and you can’t wait to see it in action, don’t use pearls to speed up the construction. They cost a ton to purchase with real money and are very rare rewards; it is not worth using them on something that can be taken care of with time. Similarly, I wouldn’t recommend using them to increase the marketplace sales slots for simultaneous sales. While I think increasing inventory slots is almost a necessity in order to keep a decent economy going along with saving for construction, increasing marketplace slots can easily be remedied by simply logging in to collect coins and place more items on the marketplace.
Take Care When Using Pearls to Complete Construction
While I wouldn’t ever advocating using pearls to speed up timers, it might be worthwhile to use them as a substitute for outstanding items needed to start construction on a building. However, I’d recommend that you pay close attention to what items you’re thinking of using pearls for. If it’s something that’s easy to build (like a first tier crafting item) or something that can be easily found at any time, I’d suggest spending some time to find it rather than using the precious pearls. Conversely, if you’re looking to have it as a substitute for an item that’s hard to find or requires certain conditions in order to find it (such as the fish that can only be found at night), then it might be worth it, especially if the conditions are hard for you to play through.
