Attention RPG Fans, Just About Every Final Fantasy Is On Sale Right Now

TouchArcade Rating:

If you’ve got any holes in your mobile Final Fantasy collection, now’s the time to fill it out. Square Enix has put almost every game in the series on sale, and some highlights include the lowest price we’ve seen yet for Final Fantasy 4: The After Years ($14.99) and the first ever sale for Final Fantasy 6 ($14.99). Even Final Fantasy Dimensions (Free) is getting in on the action, with the price for the IAP for the full game reduced to $7.99. The only titles sitting out so far are Final Fantasy Tactics ($13.99) and the various free-to-play spin-offs like All The Bravest (Free). The rest of the games are available for half-off their usual prices, making them a Locke-level steal for any RPG fan who doesn’t have them already.

Usually, when Square Enix does a series-wide sale on Final Fantasy, it’s either Christmas or time for a new release in the series. At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be anything new on the immediate horizon, so it’s entirely plausible this sale is happening just because Square Enix loves you. I’m going to tell myself it’s in celebration of my huge write-up on Final Fantasy ($7.99) in last week’s RPG Reload, however. The beauty of self-delusion is that nobody can disprove you! (Upon further investigation, it’s celebrating the announcement of Final Fantasy Legends: Crystal Of Time And Space, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and a new Final Fantasy Portal app in Japan. My poor, wounded pride.)

In case you’ve heard about certain compatibility issues with Square Enix’s games and iOS 8, let me set your mind at ease. Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 ($7.99) have some audio issues that can be resolved by opening and closing your notification window when they happen, while the other games in the series are all working just fine. Square Enix has also recently updated Final Fantasy 3 ($14.99), Final Fantasy 4 ($14.99), Final Fantasy 5 ($14.99), and Final Fantasy 6 with support for MFi controllers. These games are mostly all considered classics for a good reason, so it’s hard to go wrong with any of them at these prices.
