You guys remember Shadow Blade, right? It was a killer ninja-themed action platformer released early this year by developer Dead Mage Studio and published by Crescent Moon Games. The combat and platforming were top notch, but what really drove me to love Shadow Blade was its beautiful art style and fantastic soundtrack that actually synced up with your actions. Taken altogether, Shadow Blade was a wonderful experience, and remains one of my favorites of 2014. Today Dead Mage has announced their next project now that they’ve wrapped up putting an enhanced version of Shadow Blade on Steam Early Access. It’s an action adventure game for mobile devices called Epic of Kings, and I think I’ll just let the trailer do all the talking.
One thing that stands out to me about Epic of Kings is that it looks like it has a variety of gameplay mechanics going on. I’m not totally sure how the main combat goes, but Dead Mage describes Epic of Kings as “being designed for mobile devices and [including] very intuitive touch controls for combat gameplay that is balanced with cinematic events in an engaging story." Sounds good to me! Also, the trailer was captured from an Nvidia Shield device, but don’t worry, Epic of Kings is most definitely headed to iOS as well as Android. It’s shooting for a Q1 2015 release, so stay tuned for more details as they come. As always, you can discuss this upcoming game with the community in our forums.
