Enjoy the Escherian landscapes of Monument Valley ($3.99) but want more? Well, this August, Dadiu Games’ Back to Bed should provide more chaotic dreamscapes to explore, but with more of a puzzling flavor.
Back to Bed‘s not a clone of Monument Valley, as it actually predates the game with a 2013 Kickstarter, and of course MC Escher predates everyone. But the game is also different in that it’s about interacting with objects and the world as a part of Bob’s subconscious, Subob. You have direct control over Subob, moving objects out of the way and helping to get Bob, who walks straight forward and turns right at walls, to his bed safely.
The game’s built in Unity, so the developers are able to release mobile versions alongside the Steam version for the planned August release. The game will support MFi gamepads along with touchscreen controls. If you want a taste of the game, you can play an early version on your computer from the Back to Bed website, though the full version will have improved visuals and more content, but this should let you see if this is a game worth keeping an eye on.
